My wordpress is showing me this error "There has been a critical error on this website", whenever I try to make purchases on my woocommerce or when I try to create an account (different from my admin account) to login my woocommerce shop. I am a digital marketing beginner, trying out running Google ads for my website, so my end goal is to test whether the purchase tag created on Google ads is working.

please advise, what could be wrong? what should I do?

You need to roll back recent updates to any plugins or Uninstall any new ones

Check your admin email.

You will see the error message there.

Also, it might be from recent plugin updates. Kindly troubleshoot by disabling one after the other.

This is usually caused by a faulty plugin.

You have to first turn on debug. This will show you the actual file causing the error. You can also check the error log file in the root folder

You can see from the beginning. That is a fatal error caused by PHPMailer library.

This is the library used for sending emails in WordPress so anytime you visit a page that needs to send a mail this error will occur.

This is very unusual unless the file is corrupted. Maybe you should copy the library from a new WordPress folder and replace it.
