They have been steadfast, resolute and committed.

The Bible verse you mentioned described about how the rich will find it difficult to make heaven because they highly glorify themselves without meekness/humility which is exactly that pastor preached. No meekness & humility in what he preached about jesus not associating with the poor.

If you must know nobody can become a partaker with Jesus as heavenly corulers who must not make sacrifices so if you don't have anything to loose materially speaking you can't become a coruler with Christ Jesus.
That's the first sacrifice anyone needs to make.
And as for their families they didn't leave them like that rather their families continue with the family business just as Jesus left the family craft for James his brother too not that they trash their families o!
