It was a spiritual scene at a Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) examination centre today as anxious parents turned the waiting area into a makeshift prayer ground.

Dozens of parents, visibly tensed and emotionally invested, were spotted praying fervently—some pacing back and forth, others clasping their hands or even going on their knees—as their children sat inside the hall for the crucial exam that could determine their university admission.

While some muttered quiet prayers under their breath, others openly called on divine intervention, asking for wisdom, remembrance, and calm for their wards.

However, the scene has sparked mixed reactions online. While some netizens criticized the act, calling it public hypocrisy and questioning why such energy isn't directed into academic preparation, others defended the parents, calling it a genuine display of parental love and deep concern for their children's future.

You should have laid example in your own time. So, you have gone, but others shouldn't go, right? The stage they are now, they can't understand what you are saying even though you have good motivé with your suggestion. Until they go, and then learn from their own experiences in life the future like you before they understand what you are saying . Even some of them can commit suicide if they fail many times to enter

We just need value reorientation. We are just too obsessed with university education and our government hasn't done enough to change the narrative

I believe in God I believe in the efficacy of prayer ,I am a living witness to the fact that God answers prayers.i also believe that faith without works is dead.bottomline is there's a place and time for everything. Stop this madness. Pray in your house and let the kids do their exams without this distraction. Jeez

I don't recollect my parents following me to JAMB centre and back. Na me use my leg go there, write exam, come back. Got admission in one touch.

Our days, my parents just gives you money for jamb form and that's it..

But I understand why parents got too involved this time. Because jamb decided to start accreditation as early as 6.30am!!

any form of EDUCATION is an OPPORTUNITY to EXCEL any PLATFORM, EDUCATION no be SCAM ooo. u jus need to go hand in hand with SKILLS and HAND PRACTICES! especially HANDCRAFTING

Study well and be well rested before an examination, increases chances of doing well in the exam.

They can not even organize themselves well.

Every location and point is a place for prayer and intersection as if prayer will turn a less intelligent child into the best

There is a reason Nigeria is backwards, parents are showing the trait.

They even had chairs to sit comfortably under canopies. The JAMB center I took my son to write the exam in Kano, no provision for such. People sat in their cars, on the ground, roots of trees, and any available broken items in the hot sun.

lol , the wise ones that know how useless the academic system is should take thier wards out of that place asap.

Enroll thier ward in a Trade , skill or digital institute.

And not learning ground. This is why majority of them seek ways to cut corner for their children.

Majority of the students sitting for JAMB are on TikTok shaking their Bum bum for garnered followers
