Governor Alex Otti says over 700,000 children across Abia State are now benefiting from the state’s free and compulsory basic education policy, which took effect on January 1, 2024, ABN TV reports.

The Governor revealed this while addressing the public during his monthly media briefing, noting that the spike in school enrollment necessitated urgent recruitment of teachers.

“We first hired 5,000 teachers, but due to increasing enrollment, we have approved the recruitment of an additional 4,000,” Governor Otti said.

He added that the government is also investing in teacher capacity development, especially in Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM), to ensure students are future-ready.

“Our goal is to equip children to thrive in today’s tech-driven world—one of AI, robotics, and electric cars,” he emphasized.

Most news coming out of Abia state are more of propaganda than the actual situation, same as that young man in Burkina Fasso. While Otti might not pay anyone for propaganda, Obidients carry out the propaganda for free, but the strongman of ouadadougou is paying a lot to bloggers all over African for propaganda.

I think states should be empowered to deport school age, underaged children and their parents/ guidance begging or doing manual jobs to their states of origin.

On this matter of free education for all children in schools with adequate professional teachers and other staff, how is any of the four you listed different from one another?

Has any one of them matched Makinde’s record of 20,000 teachers employed in six years, which is still very far from being enough to make basic education free for ALL children?

Remember he's not an APC governor. He doesn't lie. Urge the apc governors to follow suit. They can achieve it. At times, i wonder if governor oyebanji of ekiti had conscience with all his propaganda and fake publicity. Anyone who visits that state will either begin to pray for him or otherwise as soon as the person leaves the boundaries of osun and steps on the ekiti road. He keeps saying its a FG road when ayo fayose spent state's funds to fix the road in his tenure. Same apc criticised him when he did this back then. They also criticised him for constructing the over head bridge which is easing traffic today as the population and number of motorists have grown bigger. When they got to power, they did nothing .

Annoyingly, oyrbanji belongs to the same ruling party he's panting his fingers to.

You must be talking about propaganda governor if you can’t share verifiable evidence of the massive recruitment of tens of thousands of teachers and other staff to make it possible for 700,000 pupils to be in free schools.
