owobokiri:I can understand tonye is playing politics But as for what you are postulating thats a synonym to confused North has more states than south yet they stand as North, i see no logical reason why south should be partitioned As a Matter of Fact the East are not the only region yet to produce a President or vice, what about North central there is no validity for SE to class itself outside East, if they are segregate is because they dont play politics right look at what Tinubu is doing with SS, Peter obi is going from headies to naming ceremony later they will say they lose |

TonyeBarcanista:Tinubu can be unseated by the right candidate in any of the opposition parties. Nothing is cast in stone. Although, the major opposition party is currently heading in the wrong direction with a desperado who won't give up the ticket. I have already told you a key determinant in this election. That something was accepted yesterday, doesn't mean it will be today. Especially, when you have smart politicians who know the game. No point over flogging the issue. This is politics. Those who know, do. |

Odingo1:This your position is "faulty" not based on fact. Irrespective of any zoning consideration, politicians advance their interests and they lobby behind the scenes for their interests. Buhari was Tinubu personal interests within APC in 2015, he lobbied for him to get the ticket. Atiku, Kwankwaso and Okorocha weren't. Though it was not zoned, every Chieftain advanced their political interests. In 2022 when it was zoned, everyone still advanced their interests within the sphere of the zoning arrangements. |

TonyeBarcanista:There is nothing like North-Southern arrangement, just say they adopted Yoruba- Fulani rotation between South and North because someone from North central cannot be given opportunity. |

TonyeBarcanista:For equity and peace to reign in Nigeria, presidency should rotate among the six geo-political zones in Nigeria not Yoruba-Fulani people thing. Switzerland is doing between the French, German and English territories for peace in their country not two tribes take all in Nigeria and concentrate all development in Nigeria in the South West and North West only. |
| Re: The Truth About Nigeria’s Presidential Rotations by TonyeBarcanista(op): 7:11pm On May 01, 2025 |
Odingo1:Would you be saying this if Ojukwu had won in 2003 or 2007? Or if Uzor Kalu had won in 2007? Or if Jonathan had won in 2015? The point is that if you feel a political party's arrangement does not represent your wish, you have the duty to support another party or float yours. You cannot dictate to a Party what to do or how to do their internal arrangements. You can only lobby them or boycott them. APC says their arrangement is North-South You may look for a party that adopt Rotation amongst the 6 zones or throw it open for all. |

Odingo1:This argument of Switzerland doesn't apply to Nigeria. In Switzerland the Federal Assembly elect a seven man Federal Council for a four year term. Each member presides over the country on turn by turn basis each year. It's more of a collegiate presidency. |

theredaddy:Mumbo-jumbo What is Tinubu doing with the south south? Or you mean the Chagoury Road to golgotha? The west is by far more bound politically and even economically with the North West. Let them stay like that. There is nothing that can come out of any political marriage between the east and the west as far as the Tinubu branch of the southwest political grouping is in charge. They fought together, plundered together, formed APC together,... In all these endless political machinations, looting the resources of the east has always been the main bounding interest.., the goal! South-east should continue with the south south and find willing groups in the north like the north Central to bind with politically. That's the way to go. The South west see the east as a mortal enemy that needs to be annihilated. And they are doing everything to turn the south-east upside down politically and ecomically. The idea that the former Eastern Nigeria should agree to a non existent "Southern Nigeria", where the Southwest will use the big numbers to get power only to jettison the rest, is to say the least - jejune! |
| Re: The Truth About Nigeria’s Presidential Rotations by Odingo1: 7:31pm On May 01, 2025 |
TonyeBarcanista:We are talking about how to bring peace to Nigeria and prevent future crises that may breakup Nigeria. You know in Nigeria that there is Fulani forces that Control Nigeria to ensure or to dictate a particular trend. That is why herdsmen move freely all over Nigeria and take peoples life without any arrest, highest they settle Yorubas with presidency to keep on trend. The Igbos is fed up, The North Central is following up. To solve the problem is to adopt a model like Switzerland that have different ethnicities otherwise we keep on pursuing shadows in Nigeria and pretending that everything is Ok with current arrangement. Nigeria should be regionalised with central rotational presidency among the geopolitical zones with 5 year single term or face possible breakup in no distant time. |

First you gaslight anyone who refuses to vote your obi as being a bigoted tribalist but then again you justify your obi ibo presidency by citing base ethnic chauvinism. TonyeBarcanista:Yeah it was thrown open, But we all saw the North played a crucial role the ticket falls into south picking Tinubu... which is more like an honor of the zoning arrangement Do Nigerians ever have a say, politikineering starts and end with politicians, there was no way the North would watched Jonathan use 10yrs, even till now the North still nagg South as Ruled more. reality APC defeated PDP in 2015 cos the timing and permutation was Right, why do you think Tinubu shelved is ambition 2015 and sudden rush out in 2023 shouting emi lo kan "IF" wey no gree happen in the last 24yrs of our democracy dey play what do you think gave birth to that statement " Emi lo kan " ... put rotation and emi lo kan side by side what do you see gudnite |

| Re: The Truth About Nigeria’s Presidential Rotations by DomPerignon: 10:36pm On May 01, 2025 |
owobokiri:There was no marginalization of minorities in the western region unlike what was so brazen and pervasive in your tribalistic eastern region. For your information, the then Oba of Benin led the call for the creation of Midwestern region in a bid to not to be under the influence of Yoruba cultural dominance. The majority Yorubas in the regional House in Ibadan did not oppose any motion tabled before the house by the minorities to have a referendum conducted for the creation of Midwestern region. A core Yoruba MP even rose to present the motion on behalf of the minority representatives. The referendum was duly granted and successfully conducted and another Yoruba man at the Federal Parliament rose to present the issue for ratification which was duly approved and granted in 1963. Now compare and contrast to what transpired in your Eastern parliament with the majority ibo MPs shutting down any call by the minorities in the coastal provinces to have a referendum towards seeing to the creation of the Calabar-Ogoja-Rivers region. Frustrated at Enugu, the minorities then took their plight to the federal house in Lagos and had secured the support of both northern, western and Midwestern MPs to pass a resolution for a referendum to be conducted. Sensing the inevitable , your Zik who had earlier warned ibo MPs never to agree to a referendum for the minorities, stating that "it will see to what was remaining of the eastern region being the poorest" and also the greed to control the newly discovered oil wells in the coastal enclaves led your Zik to activate his morons in the army to stage a bloody coup on Jan 15 so as to prevent the federal house from reconvening to discuss and pass a resolution in support of a referendum for the creation of COR region. You Ibos better stop lying brazenly . This is why the likes of Adaka Boro decided to lead an insurection to leave Nigeria after ironsi dismantled regions . At that juncture of passing decree 34 , it became obvious to the most naive that the coup of Jan 15 was carried out on the instructions of Zik to prevent the end of the parasitic ibo dominated eastern region. Not stopping there, after the successful counter coup , your Ojukwu who had been the only MILAD to have openly welcomed the disastrous decree 34 suddenly went 180 after Gowon passed decree 8 that not only abrogated ironsi's decree 34 but created regional armies and was set to create COR region. Gowon will later settle for states and carved out two states out of your east which were supposed to be part of COR region. Ojukwu and Ibos are that time we're all livid over the liberation of the minority people that had been yoked to you ibos by the British colonial govt under their Eastern Nigeria colonial administration. This is the history of your greed, covetousness and compound stupidity that led to the Jan 15 coup, the counter coup and the civil war. Now compare that to how Ibadan handled the minority demands and supported it totally as against you Ibos who only saw yourselves as the inherited owners of the colonial estate. The Yorubas declared early during the discussion over the creation of Midwest region that they being a people who fought for their independence from the British could not in any way colonise others. Now that there lies the difference and why SS people will forever resent you Ibos. |

TonyeBarcanista:I wont look at it along Party line cos thats where they mount the confusion politicians are one , Zoning arrangement is a Regional agreement between North and south base on "good faith " or should i say mutual understandingMr tonye i asked you a question, you dodged it ... why did Tinubu feel "emi lo kan" after Buhari and not right after Jonathan Even when Buhari turned is back on Tinubu pre 2019 why did Tinubu condone Buhari for 8yrs before he can came out to declare what stopped an ambitious Tinubu 2015, 2019 from contesting ... what ![]() If truly People decide, how come in the last 24yrs we never fell out of line on the "zoning arrangement" not once ... 24yrs of an electoral pattern is too long for coincidences or luck dont you think |
