Congratulations, bro.

I don't understand this statement: "I bought baby things for my lovely wife." Why are you buying baby things for an adult?

My baby has a land already to her name
I hope is not true, hope you didn't used your baby's name on the landed property, if so, that land can be reclaim from you, is wrong using your children name on a landed property when they are not up to 18yet.

Congratulations..... Nothing is too much for a baby. You won't spend this much for your second child. But in all, you can't buy baby things at once. Few cloths is enough because they outgrown it fast. In 2020 I spent over 700k in getting things ready for my child. Wanted to still buy more and was told it's too much and I should hold on. Most of what I bought were not used. So, your friends are right and maybe they're talking from experience

You guys talk a lot this days.
What was the need of telling your friend how much you spent to buy stuff for your baby.
This friend of yours is a good person to tell you how he feels,
Others would have gone behind your back to talk rubbish.

What a friend and what a question!

How can an investment on your child be too much??
Re: Is My Friend Right by StPete: 5:39pm On May 04, 2025
If the majority of the things purchased for your child are toys, I’m afraid your friend is right. They will end up being meaningless wasteful items once the child outgrows them. Matter of fact, you will start to look for where to dispose them off. I’m speaking from experience.

Apart from the land, get other sure investments that in years to come, it will conveniently cater to her schooling till Masters level if possible. Remember, cost of living in Nigeria is increasing by the day, in years to come, 1million Naira would be too small to pay as school fees for 1 term let alone for several years of schooling

My concern is that, all you bought will be used by the baby and other babies you may wish to have in future

Since you can afford that for baby personal things

Start to open an account after the birth and naming ceremony so that you can save for his education even before he starts schooling
