CuteMaro:Update on my order, it was just canceled as seller claims he's unable to ship to Nigeria. This battery you ordered is 11.1v, though, keep that in mind. My fan, for example, uses a 15v input, which is why the speed of the fan drops noticeably when it's using battery (12.8v). 11.1v may not be ideal. Give us feedback when you can, however. |

bkuranga:Ok then |
| Re: Solar Energy, A Complement To FTA by CuteMaro(m): 7:00am On May 04, 2025 |
HeavenlyBang:I see. My fan uses a 12v input. I understand that on full charge this battery should be around 12.6v. I'm going for this size because the original space for the LA batteries is quite small, and I doubt a bigger one would fit. Original space is for two 6v 4.5ah LA compartmentalized. With 11.1v and much better capacity I doubt the reduction in speed would be much. Fingers crossed. |

Baba no try am, a reduction in volts for a DC application will affect the speed drastically CuteMaro: |

86-90% of rated capacity. Considering it's price, it's a good deal Brand new 12v 280ah pack will perform better than this though. Dam5reey1: |

oloet:If I get a higher battery which will raise the total voltage to 14.8v, doesn't this imply that I can't charge with the normal 12v charger? |
| Re: Solar Energy, A Complement To FTA by bassdow: 9:43am On May 04, 2025 |
bkuranga:...but everyOne mustn't be on whatsApp na ? If person no dey whatsApp, na to call the person via GSM, or send SmS message, or request for alternative medium e.g email; no be to dey do like say having a whatsApp account is a huge necessity |
| Re: Solar Energy, A Complement To FTA by bassdow: 9:51am On May 04, 2025 |
oloet:That would rarely be noticeable since difference between 11.1v and 12v is too small. A reduction in Voltage, would lead to an increase in current draw, even ohm's law says this + I have done so on many occasions. Even a few of my laptops (Core i5 and Core i7) are running directly from a 12-volts battery. AnyOne who have average knowledge, understands Laptops need approximately 19-volts to run. But if you have been inside electronics well enough, you would understand laptops need approximately 12-volts . The rest is to enable it reCharge it's batteries; and probably power some optional things if present. |
| Re: Solar Energy, A Complement To FTA by bassdow: 9:54am On May 04, 2025 |
HeavenlyBang:That the Fan has an input of 15v, probably for a charger, doesn't mean it's directly sent to the Fan's motor. A couple of step-downs would be made that at end of the day, the motor might actually be taking 12-volts or less |

Dam5reey1:You have quite a number of valuable information on your YouTube channel. You can build a niche around these kind of test. Many Nigerians need guidance on what to get and at the most affordable cost based on proven data. Our upcoming Nigeria Will Prowse. Welldone |

HeavenlyBang:I think I fully understand now. My own fan speed drops on the 12v battery compared to when on AC power. I think the only solution is to get that 14.8v battery to be able to maintain a decent speed. Well I don already order, let's see how it goes if it's manageable, I just need anything besides LA batteries coz the last one I bought didn't last up to 1 month b4 doing less than 1hr back up. |
| Re: Solar Energy, A Complement To FTA by HeavenlyBang(m): 10:52am On May 04, 2025 |
bassdow:If that were true, fan performance wouldn't be hamstrung when on a 12v battery (closer to 13.5v at 100% SoC). |

Dam5reey1:where can I get this battery and how much? |
| Re: Solar Energy, A Complement To FTA by FEGEITOK: 1:01pm On May 04, 2025 |
Peterlove11:This is solid information. As someone said be weird or be broke. In other words, there are so few people from Nigeria in your industry that make these kinds of videos. Don't stop. Over time you may even be contacted by the manufacturers themselves to test these on behalf of their intended markets. You will also receive special invites to industry events, etc. In conclusion, continue to distinguish yourself. Money will follow name recognition. |

Please guys, can I get a power station or solar generator just to power only a 250l freezer and for charging my phones with a 500k budget? Or is that budget sufficient for inverter+battery+panel set-up just for a freezer? Thank you all. |

Did they measure the earth resistance after the installation? I have equipment somewhere in Delta state that used to get damaged during thunderstorms. But when they made the earth resistance below 1 Ohm, it stopped. In some places, 3 - 5 ohms is ok. The lower the earth resistance, the better the chances of the equipment surviving a thunderstorm. Did they tie all the 3 rods in the video together? That way, it further reduces the earth resistance. There is an equipment used in measuring this. Get this or get a NEPA official to come and help you measure your earth resistance. chris81964: |

bassdow:Oh men...this is archaic way of thinking o. I used to think that resale value was a good reason to use LA, but it's really penny wise pound foolish. Case: I bought 4 brand new LA batteries, at 150k per one. The plan was to use for at least 2years and resell so I can buy again. About 2 years down the line, the batteries are getting weak. To replace them now from same brand is around 1m. Even if I resell them as scrap at the best price, I'll still have to add around 600k to replace them. E no pay laslas...I'm switching over to lithium gradually. There are many affordable Lithium batteries on the market now. |
