Why won't they perform poorly when TIKTOK has eroded their brain. Blame the students and not JAMB. Dem no get time to read or research anymore.

I don't think those that passed are lucky, they worked and prepared for the exam. Students nowadays don't read anymore and I didn't blame them it is because there is nothing to motivate these children in terms of education Nigeria has failed everyone although that should not be an excuse for the failure even those that claimed to attend tutorials are on different mission.
those who failed may be unlucky due to some reasons that are beyond them that they were fully prepared but the unfortunate may have happened

exactly, the blame should not be on jamb rather on the students, students don't read again, as a matter of fact some of them can not even handle computer in writing exams properly. In addition cbt exam requires a lot of logical reasoning as some questions are set to test mental ability/reasoning of students which I think they are not up to task.

The vast majority of them couldn't hit the 200 cutoff mark. Children of these days will keep struggling academically because of social media distractions.

Parents need to step up the game of instilling discipline in their children if they want their children to succeed. Nothing can take the place of education.
l agree
Is alarming how these kids don't get tired of pressing phone.

Annoying..

Don't they have a share of the blame ?

Tell the person to go to jamb office and report.
So that they can reschedule the exam for the person

Well, the subject is about UTME, so my assumption is that most of the candidates have already left secondary schools. Now, they are totally under their parents' or guardians' care.

True that, and I gave you a like.

But the palaver is, many of these kids don't have a good place to study.

When I was prepping for JAMB, I lived in a house located in a very quiet place, had a room to myself to study in, could study at night, and had access to a public library if I needed it (I never used it).

Most kids don't have that. A child would be living in a two bedroom house with eight kids, and would be looking after the young ones, there is no library near by, studying at school is probably dangerous at night, and so forth.

I kind of think that government and private people should invest more in libraries, and in making many schools safe enough for kids to study in and do homework at night.

Remember the photo of the little girl who was doing her homework by the light of the ATM at night? Yeah, that's most nigerian kids.

Power and housing too have to be fixed. Maybe we need to change the culture where older kids are somehow expected to look after the younger ones too...no time to study.

As someone who has followed the UTME trends over the years and witnessed significantly higher performance benchmarks in the past, I must express a deep concern regarding the latest result analysis released by JAMB for the 2025 examination cycle.

While the board deserves commendation for its detailed breakdown and transparency, the statistics are troubling. Only 0.63% of the nearly two million candidates scored 300 and above—a stark contrast to previous years where a higher percentage reached this tier. Even more concerning is the concentration of candidates—over 50%—scoring between 160 and 199, which raises questions about either the exam difficulty, the quality of teaching, or both.

This analysis brings several critical issues to the forefront:

Are the current secondary education curricula and teaching methods adequately preparing students for the UTME?

Has the UTME become significantly more difficult, or is it a matter of declining academic preparedness among candidates?

What strategies are being employed to ensure that the large cohort scoring below 200 receives the academic support they need, especially in light of university cut-off marks?

Are socio-economic or technological barriers, such as access to digital learning resources, disproportionately affecting performance?

The low percentage of candidates scoring above 250, typically seen as competitive for high-demand courses, also signals potential future challenges in university admissions. Moreover, with 40,000 underage candidates sitting for the exam and only a small fraction meeting “exceptional” thresholds, are we pushing students into high-stakes testing prematurely?

Finally, while it is positive that JAMB is investigating biometric issues and malpractices, the rising number of candidates involved in infractions is another symptom of systemic pressure and perhaps desperation.

If we are to restore confidence in the educational system and ensure a future of academically strong graduates, there must be a national dialogue on the root causes of this decline and what can be done to reverse it.

Have we reached a point where standardized testing reflects more about systemic shortcomings than student potential?
Re: JAMB Releases Breakdown Of 2025 UTME Results by Jeje247: 12:25pm On May 05, 2025
So assuming pass mark is 50% only about 22% of candidates passed. If we push it to 60%, less than 20% passed
