Beautiful childhood smiley
These were all wonderful soap opera and TV programs that made my childhood.
Those days that television stations closes by 11:00pm and 11:00am.
More importantly, I remember how we always anticipated to get home after school closes by 3:30pm to go watch at 4:30pm cartoons like Voltron, biker mice etc
Cadbury breakfast television (every Saturday) was the bomb, because i know fully well that mumsi won't trouble me to watch it from 8:00am to 10:00am (because it's Saturday)
Nite shift (on DBN television).
Childhood is the best because you no even get any responsibility, na only to eat, read your book, play with siblings for house, sleep and chop food. Children no know wetin dem dey enjoy until dem become adults.

I struggled with English during my childhood days so most of the operas listed up there were not my favorites. I actually grew up watching Yoruba soap operas on local TV channels. There were popular TV episodes shown for 13 weeks or more in the 80s and 90s. I can still remember movies like Arelu, Yanponyanri, Koto Orun, Opa Aje (featuring Abija), Okanlawon, Agbara Nla by Mount Zion, Erin Keke of Baba Suwe etc.

Tales by moonlight was not a soap opera and Basi and Company was a comedy.

Another comedy from those times was the popular 'Second chance' which was based on the british comedy 'Mind your language'.

Yeah, it was a basic kids programme, like Storyland (which came later).

Other kids programmes from that time, included shows like Puppet world (from NTA Jos).

Modified

There was also Mini Square from NTA benin, and Kidivision 101 from NTA Sokoto.

SIncere and humble leaders like Shagari, buhari, IBB, and even Obasanjo and Gowon, and Muritala...all of whom had corruption chasing after them.

And some of the same crimes happened then. Someone I knew was kidnapped back in 1990. A child. If not that he had the prescence of mind to jump from the vehicle the kidnappers were carrying him in.....

Armed robbery was a thing in the 1970's and 80's.

The reason why we had so many good programees was partly due to Vincent Maduka , who was the brain behind most of these programmes...in part because NTA was felt at the time to be airing too many foreign stuff. Also, many NTA staff were parents with kids...so their programming was geared with that in mind.

But Nigeria was not better in the good old days. Oh effing no.....

That's the era of most of those shows. Back then, the same way we complain now, was the same way we complained then.

I no dey defend any government. The reason why things have not changed in decades is that the basis of our economy is oil. Change the basis to manufacturing and exporting manufactured products, and things will improve.
