Good afternoon everyone,

I sincerely appreciate this group and all the knowledgeable people providing help. Thank you.

I would appreciate your guidance on an issue regarding my recently approved Canadian visa. I applied for the visa in February and received approval in April, along with a request to submit my passport. However, I was informed that the validity of the visa would be tied to the expiration of my previously submitted biometrics, which is set to expire in September 2025.

Unfortunately, I was unaware that visa validity is linked to biometric expiry. I had assumed it was based solely on the passport’s validity. When I submitted my application, I received a notification stating that my biometrics were still valid, so I did not attend a new appointment—even though I had already paid the biometric fee.

Upon realizing this in April, I wrote to IRCC on April 4 to explain the situation and to request a new biometric instruction letter so that I could complete a fresh biometric submission and potentially extend my visa’s duration. As of today, May 1, I have not received a response.

Could you kindly advise if this delay is normal, and what next steps I can take to ensure my request is addressed?

Thank you in advance for your help.
There's nothing you can do for now than to submit your passport for visa which will be valid till sep 2025.

If you need a longer visa validity, you have to put in a new application and enroll for a new biometric.

Choose wisely 🤐

Hello Everyone,
If one’s Canada visa expires, will the process of applying for another one be faster..please I need response

I will advise that you submit your passport to IRCC first to have your visa stamped so that the 30 day rule for submission won't elapse since they are yet to respond to you. Once the visa expires in september, you can renew with ease since you will be eligible for CAN plus by then and also get a longer visa duration as you will doing a fresh biometric scan. All the best
Thanks a lot for your response.

I have a 5year US Visa, so I applied based on my CAN+ eligibility with just about 2 documents.
However, the whole promise of a shorter visa approval date wasn’t the case. It took almost 2months.

If I send my passport to them for the visa, does it usually take time as well? I wouldn’t want to submit my passport and be tied down. Pls do you know how long it takes on the average to receive your passport back?

Thank you

To be eligible for CAN+ (expedited processing), you should have a valid US visa OR have visited Canada in the last ten years. I am assuming you have used your visa to travel to Canada in the last few years. If so, then yes you should have your renewal processed faster.

Re: Canada Visit/tourist Visa Discussion. by adelforreal: 4:17pm On May 02, 2025
It doesn'ttake more than a week to get your passport stamped with visa. In some cases, it takes few days.

After biometrics.
I wanted to confirm if my wife was given the appropriate sticker.
I reached out (email) to VAC and they explained. According to them, it’s a small rectangular sticker attached to one’s passport biodata page (photocopy) after biometrics. My wife has the sticker.
Thank you.

Yes. You are right. It is a small sticker attached to the photocopy of one's data page.

Last week, I helped my younger brother to apply for a temporary residence visa. He hasn't done the biometrics, and he is going to Germany tonight. Can he get the biometrics done while in Germany?

Under normal situation submission, stamping and collection should not take more than a week. Walk into the VFS to collect your passport, it might be gathering dust in the safe there.

Is it possible that the passport must have returned without VFS emailing me ?

What you should have done is order new biometrics online and then send the payment receipt to IRCC through webform.

Below is the link to order and pay for biometrics.

https://eservices.cic.gc.ca/epay/order.do?category=10097

But I think it is too late now to do that because they require you to submit your passport within 30 days from the date the passport request letter was sent out.

My uncle is going on vacation to Canada in October, and 2 of his kids want to accompany him. He has a valid Canada visa. These kids are both females, married, and in their 30s. He will be the sole sponsor of the trip.

I want to know if it's proper for both kids to apply for visas together as a group or if each person should apply individually. He will give them necessary documents to support their applications.

Firstly, has your uncle previously traveled with the children, as this relates to travel history? Also, how old is your uncle? These are key factors to consider, especially given how strict Canada's visa processing has become. It’s important to take a stronger and more well-prepared approach to the application. Additionally, a 30-year-old is not a child and should be able to sponsor themselves.

Hello house. Please do you have to pay for children's biometrics? We were sent Passport requests for my husband, myself and my son. My husband went to drop the passports and he was told at VFS that we have to pay for biometrics for my son which doesn't make sense to me.

The receipt he was given said "package transmission"

Please can someone help confirm if this is legit or they are just exploiting my husband?

Your passport will be returned in 3 to 4 days after submission. I was in a similar situation but the only difference was that mine was associated with passport expiry and what I did was to have the visa stamped on the passport, then applied for a new passport afterwards, then applied for the same visa category a few months to the visa expiry and the visa was approved again and new passport stamped. I now have visas active on both passports, though one of passports has been canceled without prejudice. I hope this is helpful.

He is a frequent traveler. Yes, he visited Canada in 2015, 2018, and 2023. In 2023, he sponsored his son, and he got the visa. His son was 32 years old then. I want to know if his daughters should apply individually or both of them should apply as a group.
