Open Letter to the International Criminal Court (ICC):

The Plight of the Hausa Ethnic Group

To the Esteemed Members of the International Criminal Court,

We, the undersigned members and representatives of the Hausa ethnic group, write to you with heavy hearts and an unwavering hope that justice will prevail. Our communities are under siege. Our people are being killed, displaced, and traumatized. We appeal to your conscience and commitment to justice to urgently intervene in the humanitarian crisis unfolding across the Hausa heartlands of Northern Nigeria.
Ongoing Crimes Against Humanity

For years, Hausa towns and villages have suffered from continuous, systematic attacks by armed Fulani bandits. These attacks are not random or isolated. They are part of a calculated, ethnically targeted campaign that bears all the hallmarks of crimes against humanity—and possibly genocide. The perpetrators execute their crimes with impunity, torching entire settlements, abducting women and children, slaughtering innocent civilians, and wiping out entire families.

Entire communities have been uprooted. Our people are forced to flee their ancestral homes, seeking refuge in makeshift camps without adequate food, water, or security. Our traditional rulers, community leaders, and clerics have been silenced or murdered. This is not mere banditry—it is ethnic cleansing, and it is being enabled by the silence and inaction of the Nigerian state.

State Complicity and Institutional Silence

What deepens our anguish is the blatant protection afforded to these bandits by powerful elements within the state. Influential Fulani elites and religious scholars have used their platforms not to condemn these crimes, but to normalize them, defend the perpetrators, and obstruct justice. Government responses have been either nonexistent or woefully inadequate—often suspiciously absent in areas experiencing the worst violence.

The ethnic composition of the leadership in Nigeria has fostered a dangerous environment of favoritism and impunity. Despite numerous pleas for protection, security forces are routinely withdrawn or ordered to stand down, allowing the attackers free rein. This deliberate neglect is tantamount to complicity.

A Call for International Justice

We turn to the International Criminal Court because every local avenue has failed us. We possess irrefutable evidence: photographs of mass graves, videos of burning villages, testimonies from survivors, and credible reports from humanitarian observers. The cries of our people echo in every corner of Hausaland—and yet the world remains silent.

We call on the ICC to:

1. Initiate a preliminary examination into the situation in Northern Nigeria, with specific focus on ethnically motivated violence against the Hausa people.

2. Investigate the roles of state actors and Fulani elites in enabling or facilitating these crimes.

3. Recognize the atrocities being committed as crimes against humanity and potential genocide.

4. Hold accountable all those responsible—whether through direct violence or through obstruction of justice, incitement, or dereliction of duty.

5. Recommend reparations and restitution for the victims and displaced communities.

A Plea for Peace, Dignity, and Justice

This is not just a regional issue—it is a matter of global human rights. When an ethnic group is targeted, displaced, and dehumanized without consequences, the entire world order based on justice and dignity begins to crumble. The Hausa people, like all others, have a right to live in peace on their ancestral lands. We are farmers, traders, scholars, and builders of civilization. We are not at war with our neighbors, but we are being exterminated.

We plead with the international community not to look away. Stand with us. Help us. Let not the cries of our women and children be in vain. Let the world remember that silence in the face of evil is complicity.

Justice must prevail—not just for the Hausa people, but for the future of human rights and international law.

North in their attempt to hold down the Eastern region gave too much powers to the Yorubas. You gave them the economic power and now they also have the political power, they can destroy the north with just one swoop and all is history

Yorubas is the only tribe in Nigeria to have produced two times president and vice president, the north while doing this were thinking they are getting back at the Igbos, not knowing they are digging their own grave.

North lives a difficult to interpret lifestyle. A Fulani is on their their throat. They do everything inhumane to them. The same Fulani tries that in the South and he is met with an equal or outmatched force. The same Fulani will raise alarm about an oppression against the North.

How Fulanis succeeded in doing this is worth studying. It is a typical demonstration of the phenomenon Stockholm Syndrome.

Balarabe Musa, a staunch talakawa politician and an able follower of Aminu Kano, a Hausa muslim, was impeached on frivolous reasons to paveway for another muslim, this time a Fulani , to be the authentic Governor of Kaduna State, as if Balarabe was not authentically elected. This was done to please the North.
The vexatious cloud of contortion in the whole scenario is the cultural vulnerability of the so called Northern minority politicians to be used willy-nilly to dash the hope of their own people. Some Northern Non-Fulani Governors and politicians from the Northcan die for Muhammadu Buhari and Atiku Abubakar respectively, but they cut the tails of their fellow Northern tribesmen to please their feudal masters - the Fulanis - in order to do so.
Now let us place the Biafran war on the slaughter slab vis a
viz the so called Northern minorities. It was these same Northern minorities that really fought the war for their overlords called Fulanis.
Yakubu Gowon, Martin Adamu, Theophilus Danjuma, Zamani Lekwot, David Mark, Joshua Dogonyaro, and host of others, were used to prosecute the war. When "real Northerners" were done with Gen Gowon , they removed him for their own in Murtala Ramat Mohammed. That coup was used as step-up to launch an ethnic cleansing of Non-Fulanis in the Nigerian military, which ideological obscenity has persisted till date in Nigerian military and paramilitary.
The sobriquet of One North, One Destiny, One People is a lie from the pit of hell.
Is the North monolithic? How porous is this dictum as a catch phrase. "Arewa" is Hausa word for North. Recall , it is not a Fulani word. Why ? Hausa is by far, the most populous in the entire North, but they are voiceless.
The Fulanis are very few , not more than 6 million, but they are in control politically and economically even though they are not aboriginous Nigerians. So, a Hausa word must be used, not a Fulani word, to galvanize support for the whole North, so as to consolidate on their power. This is the racket of cultural nudity in Northern Nigeria from Uthman Dan Fodio time which has served its purpose very well.
And they would call all Non-Muslims, including those from the North as pagans, "Kafiris". Well, I am not a Kafiri. I am Child of God. A pastor and a Prophet. Not a pagan, Kafiri or even Arne.
They have their north, and we have another North.

HERE IS THE ANALYSIS:
Northern Nigeria has 19 states and 19 governors. Out of these, 10 governors are Fulanis, while the remaining 9 governors represent over 300 other ethnic groups in the region.
Now, consider this:
The Hausa ethnic group, with a population of over 66 million according to World Atlas—that’s over 55% of the entire Northern population—has no single governor
All their states are ruled by Fulanis, who have a population of just 13 million, barely 11% of the Northern population.
Nigeria is composed of three major ethnic groups: Hausa, Yoruba, and Igbo with Hausas having the largest population.
Yoruba have 6 governors,
Igbo have 5 governors,
But Hausas have not even one—because the Fulanis have politically and strategically enclaved them.
With this arrangement, why won't the Fulani bandits k!ll, maim and rape Hausa and other tribes peacefully and wantonly with utmost impunity?
The Hausas accepted the Fulanis peacefully, embracing them due to shared religious beliefs. But eventually, their traditional rulers were eliminated, and a Fulani oligarchy was installed.
Today, the political leadership of the Hausas is no longer theirs. Are simply reduced to beggars and gate keepers. They are robbed of even education.
Hausas have become tools in the hands of Fulanis during elections. They are mere shadows in their own land, despite their numbers.
Currently they are going through unimaginable hardship, and those of us who understand the Hausa language know the kind of lamentations that are voicing out daily.
It's so funny that even Kanuri people are wiser than them. They never allow Fulanis to conquer Borno and Yobe State. That's why they can still raise their head up in their own land.
This conquest is not coincidence—it is an agenda.
They have already succeeded in Kwara and Nasarawa States—both in the Middle Belt—and are tactically spreading their tentacles to other States in our region and extending down to the south.
This agenda has been in motion for over 200 years.
Just recently, it was funny that Benue traditional leaders, instead of acting decisively, were holding peace meetings with the same people everyone knows will never honor such peace.
You cannot negotiate peace with someone who is intentional about hurting you.
You cannot negotiate with terrorists.
Once they settle in your community, their next move is to seize your traditional and political leadership, and eventually, they will seek to erase your identity and history.
I was stunned when I saw a Fulani man contesting for the House of Representatives for Akwanga/Nasarawa Eggon/Wamba Federal Constituency. Imagine that. When I raised concerns, an Eggon friend replied, “His mother is Eggon.”
What a level of blindness!
That is exactly how the agenda works—they come to graze, settle, infiltrate, blend, and then rob you of your land and leadership.
Benue State must wake up—before it’s too late.
