Former President Obasanjo Tours Geometric Power, Commissions New Substation in Aba

Geometric Power Limited and its subsidiaries marked a milestone on Monday as former Nigerian President Olusegun Obasanjo visited their facilities in Aba, Abia State, to commission Aba Power’s new 2x15 MVA Ogbor Hill Substation and tour the company’s multi-million-dollar investments.

The visit underscored the significance of a 2005 lease agreement signed under Obasanjo’s administration, which laid the foundation for Geometric Power’s ambitious vision to transform Nigeria’s power sector. Following the substation commissioning, Obasanjo toured the 141-megawatt Geometric Power Aba Limited Power Plant, Aba Power Headquarters, and the Meter Roll-out Facility.

In his address, Obasanjo commended Geometric Power’s management and Abia State Governor Alex Otti for their commitment to ensuring a reliable power supply. He urged the company to expand its efforts across Abia State to further enhance electricity access.

Governor Otti, reflecting on his long-standing association with Geometric Power, expressed gratitude to Obasanjo for supporting the company’s vision by approving its license during his presidency. He highlighted the project’s role in driving economic growth in the region.

Prof. Bart Nnaji, Chairman and CEO of the Geometric Group, provided an overview of the company’s achievements and outlined its plans to reach greater heights in Nigeria’s power sector.

In a separate interview, Ugo Opiegbe, Managing Director of Aba Power, assured that the company is fully prepared to roll out mass metering for Aba’s electricity consumers, a move aimed at improving service delivery and transparency.

How some people would get angry at igbo governors while they can't openly talk against their own leaders who practically not doing anything from ondo, to Osun,to Oyo and the worst being Ogun state.
