What is the difference between all Gens and why is Gen2 which is an older gen I think the most expensive?

1. Gen 2 - It's the actuated kit, with built-in motors that auto-aligns the dish.

2. Gen 3 and Gen 3 mini don't have that feature, they are the kits Starlink now sells.

3. Gen 3 mini is cheaper than both the Gen 2 and Gen 3 kits direct from Starlink.

4. Since the Gen 3 and Mini kits cannot adjust themselves automatically they have a wider field of view for getting for satellite signal.

Thanks for your feedback. So which will be the best to go for? Also is it true that Starlink is bad for online gaming due to the high ping issue? Thanks.

1. I'll recommend the Gen2 kit, it is extremely popular and has many first party and 3rd party accessories, and incase you run into an issue there are thousands of other users who would have come accross the issue, making it easier to solve.

2. it is good for gaming when rain isnt falling and the sky is clear the latency is usually low. But once the weather gets bad its a different story.

Starlink use of satellites for internet means the ping rates will never be as good as mtn e.g which use fibre lines. So its good to have a Mtn 5g router as backup for fps games like Call of duty, then you can use Starlink for your heavy downloads and 4k streaming.

Thanks for the feedback. I currently use Fibre and I get up to 22Mbps using download tools like Internet Download Manager. What I need improvement on is for online gaming specifically cloud online gaming which does not work with any Nigerian ISP I know due to the ping/latency issue that even Starlink cannot solve apparently.

Don't listen to that guy. He is trying to sell you gen2 which is a downgrade compared to the newer Gen 3 model.

I used to have the gen2 and it was so damn bad. I had to sell mine cos it kept on rebooting itself like 50 times a day, every day!

Go for Gen 3. And the price is 590K from Starlink.

To the best of my knowledge Gen3 does not address the issue of ping and latency that makes Starlink very bad for online gaming. Especially when you consider that an area like Lagos has been classified by Starlink as having bandwidth capacity issues due to the high number of Starlink users.
