Hehehe. Power is now the most expensive thing now .The APC government brings nothing but pains and gnashing of teeth. They are moving like demons, crippling everything. The started with fuel, power, bank charges ETC,yet nothing to show for. It's two years now,and they are still telling us to be patient. The next is to ask us to give them another four years,to finish their master plan. |

jlo247:At all. The worst part of it is that, they will still not make the light available for we that are paying bills regularly. |

Light bill should be nothing more than N5000 let's be realistic.... Considering the fact that minimum wage is just N70k (for the few) majority earn far less than that Haba Which way is this country heading to ![]() |

| Re: Anambra Community Tackles Enugu DISCO Over Outrageous Bills by nairalanda1(m): 12:34pm On May 07, 2025 |
Yeah electricity is expensive They better pay up And yeah, f*** APC. You don't have to support apc to realize that we don't have light because most customers refuse to pay in the name.of poverty. Thus the sector loses money and can't attract investment. That I said the above does not mean I support corruption or that I support estimated billing Modified It annoys me when people quote me on power to say things like 'NIGERIANS ARE POOR' etc, etc. YES I KNOW THAT. But at the end, the stuff we need for 24 hours a day power is not going to be given to us free of charge. |

Very Pathetic, since the days of APC, Nigeria has never rested .... Is always from one hardship to another hardship as if it is the way forward.... We have been promised of reforms yet the reforms are reforming Nigerians to more hardship, religious intimidations and tribal wars... For how long can we wait from 2015 till date when the person who pioneered the coming of APC said his friend who he put in office, according to him, messed up and he has come to clean the shit.... I don't blame the EEDC , what of MTN, GLO, AITEL DaTa, airtime etc.....everything has bloated just because we have a party that came to steal, kill and destroy around us.... Very Pathetic.... |

What these protesters said is true. The EEDC cut iyiowa odekpe light for two weeks. The bills the EEDC gave them was outrageous. |

Jughead29:It costs N170 to make one unit of light. Unless your house uses 30 units of light monthly, which is not possible.....30 units may last 3 days with careful management, if we all paid N5000 monthly for power, the power sector losses would be so large that they won't be able to improve anything. And no, government is not going to pay a subsidy at all. Oil revenue for this year is so low, that the government would have to borrow more than the 13 trillion naira they were going to borrow initially to keep the budget up. In circumstances like this, they cannot afford a subsidy. Also, 30 units is based on assumption that the disco charges N170. In reality, they would need to charge N200-230 PER unit to stay solvent. Electricity is expensive. And I do not support APC, never voted for tinubu, but politics aside, electricity is expensive. |
| Re: Anambra Community Tackles Enugu DISCO Over Outrageous Bills by nairalanda1(m): 1:04pm On May 07, 2025 |
Ironfaceman:The fact is, most of the country is underpaying your local disco. It costs N160-170 to make one unit of electricty. Band A consumers are the only ones who pay above that, and they form less than 20% of consumers and not all of them pay Most of the country pays subsided bills. And at least 37% do not pay anything naitionwide, or drastically underpay, or bypass their meter...because 'we are poor'. THat means discos lose money. And thus cannot provide you with improved service, or attract investment that would bring in improved service. |

May I ask why its Enugu supplying Anambra and other SE state? Can't those state created their own power station or what? Every state should do all it takes to independently get their own power station to avoid conflicting stories. |
| Re: Anambra Community Tackles Enugu DISCO Over Outrageous Bills by Ironfaceman(m): 1:19pm On May 07, 2025 |
You have said your own side. Now can you go to a restaurant, after eating, they add 3 or more customers bill to yours and ask you to pay. Will you pay. With prepaid meter there's no need for subsidy crap.. Why people have apathy for discos is( NEPA) Not Enough Power Always. nairalanda1: |

dequir:So, if most of your customers were underpaying you, you go have business? Better answer me Truth is very bitter. Plus discos don't collect taxes, son. |
| Re: Anambra Community Tackles Enugu DISCO Over Outrageous Bills by higgs: 1:32pm On May 07, 2025 |
I live in Iyiowa,I was told the electricity was disconnected because post paid customers are owing EEDC.Why will a utility company like EEDC take such decisions? Charging domestic users of electricity like industrial users and doing blanket disconnection of electricity affecting even pre paid meter users. The government agency in charge of regulating the electricity sector should do something about the poor services and crimes these DISCOs are inflicting on innocent citizens. |
| Re: Anambra Community Tackles Enugu DISCO Over Outrageous Bills by nairalanda1(m): 1:33pm On May 07, 2025 |
Ironfaceman:Yeah you have just described estimated billing which happens because most consumers of power do not pay or underpay the company So they ripoff some consumers at the end. If they did not do it, their losses would be even worse. That is why we all got to.accept that power is expensive and we all.got.to.pay cost reflective tarrifs. Otherwise the ripoff will continue. Any questions? |

nairalanda1:Granp a, you always come up with this your 'son' epithet anytime you are criticised on this platform. Kindly invent a better insult. Have you ever heard of subsidy? All nations subscribe to that in one form or another for their poor citizens to ease their financial burden. The Nigerian government should continue to give electricity subsidy to its low income citizens until they bring the economy at par with the rich nations of world, where Nigeria should rightly belong, if not for its resources mismanagement. |

Chucks13:You are right! But have you heard about what's going on in Abia State that prides itself as one of the first State to have their own power station? Same situation like Nigeria power Station......
