Nigerian Man In UK Cries Out, Shows How He Spends £2,000 Pounds Earnings On Rent, Tax, And Just Few Change Left For Beer, Nothing Saved For His Parents



A man living in the United Kingdom has made his monthly expenses and earnings overseas public.

According to the man, his total expenses amount to £1,850 (N3.9 million), and he lamented what was left of his salary.

The man expressed worry that he hadn't sent money to his parents and wondered how he would save.



A Nigerian man, identified as @fidelisnices, has cried out over his monthly expenses in the United Kingdom.

He shared money for his house rent, council tax, electricity and gas bill, and beer. Words layered on his video read: "Salary £2,000 (N4.2 million). "Bills £1850 (N3.9 million). "Guys help it's too much for me." The Nigerian man in the diaspora lamented what was left of his salary, saying he hadn't even sent money to his parents back home.

If he has got family, the income of the wife should sustain the family, however if he's staying alone, he needs to go get a studio apartment that is not more than 850PCM, with that he will be able to save.

He is seeking attention, a lot of people earned less than that and still completed school fees of almost £8k in 1year.
Considering most Nigerians in the UK do care jobs and earn about £1,800 to £2,400, they are just poor or averagely ok just like 75% of other people in the UK.
Except you are changing your money to Naira and feeling big with it, you are poor if you earn less than £3k in the UK after tax.
The only logic is to cut your coat according to your size or get a reasonable partner to split bills with.
If not, you would realize you have spent 5/10yrs in the UK with only a fake accent to show for it.

It's not slavery. You cannot be earning 100k in Nigeria and be living in a house of 1 million. That's the case of that guy. Every part of this world has affordable places, including London. The guy is prioritising his comfort over saving, despite having a meagre £2k job. Of course, that comes at a price.

This might be correct in the case of paying RENT.

When the house is owned, the mortgage is actually a form of leveraged SAVINGS. This matter is well discussed on Nairaland.

This house was bought for $79K in 1979. Today it's priced over $500K. The records as shown make it likely that it's owned by the same person/family that originally bought it in 1979 because it hasn't been bought or sold since then. It's very likely the mortgage is paid off. Ditto for the Nigerian family, they've lived there since I came to this country. The man is a high school teacher, wife is a nurse.

So what exactly is the problem with mortgage biko nu? This is a gain of $400K = ₦560 million at current exchange rate. As in, half a billion naira....this man and wife can sell their house and get half billion naira cash. And the kids are all grown, one is nurse, one engineer at Microsoft. When the parents do die, these kids will inherit this profit. Imagine how comfortable their grand children will be. Would this have been possible in Nigeria?

Another friend of mine, Asian Indian, all of his siblings are professionals. They lived together in their parents house for 7 years, including their spouses. Saving like crazy. In 2010 when my friend moved out he was able to buy a house in Washington DC for CASH. That house has gone up over $300K in value.

This is the power of cooperative inter-generational wealth in the USA. This is in no way rich by our standards here, these are middle class people because government tax data shows 99% of Americans earn less than $400K per year.

Anyway to each their own. Anyone who wants to experience, observe or interact with poverty should stay in Nigeria. Nigeria is the Poverty Capital of the World.

This is the same general situation all over the Anglo-Western nations. Whatever the difficulties, most hardworking individuals...and eventually their families if they choose to form one....will move up the wealth and class ladder and the biggest driver for most families is real estate
