Hydro is virtually exhausted in Nigerian territory. Only gas can be feasible because it rely only on the fossil fuel. And as far as you can safely and securely transport fuel to the plant you can build thousands of power plants without limitations.
But will the criminal thieves allow such pipelines alone? Your answer is as good as mine

70% of China Source of Energy that power the whole country is from Coal... America derived 70% of their power from Coal... Nigeria has Large deposit of coal in Benue and Enugu State. Funny how is sound, China or US export those coal every blessed day from Benue state to power their power codedly. Yet our Leaders sees nothing wrong in it... I think the French are better. The EDF comes tops when it comes to the highest quality reactors and with France hosting the fusion collider all eyes will be on that country to unlock the future of clean, sustainable energy in abundance.

I will not rely on countries that are undemocratic, unstable and apt to conflicts for an industry so sensitive.

Any sanctions on Russia will affect their industries and issues like technical services and parts may become vexing. Not what you want if the plants are running.

It is not that complicated. The vendors will build and operate them. All we want is the electricity they produce and in time perhaps some tech transfer. They may not be handing anything over to government to ruin.

No it is not exhausted, a quick research will tell you that. We possess about 15,000mw of hydro power, yet we don't even generate 3,000mw of hydro power. How I wish this people can settle the issue surrounding mambilla hydro project that's 3,000mw sitting wasted. We have river Niger there, another massive hydro power plant can be built there.
