You pay 2.5 million naira per annum in Abuja and you don't yet have you own house? Back in 2022 when my then landlord increased my rent from 700k to 1.5 million in F01 Kubwa, I pinched myself and said "No. I didn't come to this world to make money for another man." I got a land, and within 6 months, built a 3-bedroom bungalow and moved out of the man's house.

I know I would probably have felt comfortable living there if the man had not increased the rent - even though I have many lands to develop - but sometimes you need to sit down and ask yourself some hard questions and take some hard decisions.

I have a land I can start building on anytime soon but I decided to wait this long and grow my capital to a certain level when I may deemed it necessary.

I've chosen to delay building on my land to accumulate sufficient capital.

Upon calculation, I realize that investing about 50-60million naira on a duplex is unwise.Yes,if i invest that amount at 20% per annum it would yield 10-12 million naira per year. This passive income would comfortably cover rental expenses, making it more financially prudent to rent for now rather than rushing into construction.

It's as if I am not making progress at all,just this first quarter of the year,I expended about #5,996,000. When I checked my expense book,it was like a dream honestly.

I am the landlord but I made a mistake of adding it to the service charge when they come in. It’s my first time and I am not repeating the same mistake. I am getting a separate meter but yet to be available.

Mind you, you can’t bypass in my area.

It seems like lies to you but it's not, running a family in nigeria of today is way expensive and people hardly have anything less to save,my monthly expenses is between 950k/1.50m for a family of 7, house rent not inclusive and trust me no lavish lifestyles added

Inless you use inverter ac you likely spend more that 160k.
Me I only use the 1hp in bedroom, turned off the big deep freezer for a smaller one, one st anding fridge, the normal fans and others, I average 5-10k daily, if the kids are home from school then 15k+ daily as they turn on acs in their rooms or 2hp unit in the living room. Ofcourse with the heat these days one cannot stop them.

If you are guaranteed 20-24 hours electricity per day and spend 20k naira monthly on power. This isn't much. After all, you are the person consuming it. Power is expensive worldwide.

20k gives me paltry 33 units (kwh) under IBEDC on a brand new meter/house, no prior debt. 1k gives 3.3 units.
BTW: I don't think you need to on your fridge for 10 hours a day. 2 to 3 hours is enough if it is working condition is okay

Yeah, you are correct, that's the charge for estimated billing for band A customers without meters. Nobody should be on band A without meter.
