Obi To Soludo: I Did My Bit As Trader, Do Yours As Professor (Throwback) by Bobloco(op): 3:44pm On May 09, 2025
The presidential candidate of the Labour Party, Peter Obi on Tuesday, said he did his little as governor of Anambra State and urged the incumbent governor, Chukwuma Soludo to do his best in the state as an economics professor.

Obi stated this at the 2022 Lagos Business School (LBS) Alumni Conference in Lagos.

The Anambra governor between 2006 and 2014 was reacting to Soludo’s comments that the investment he (Obi) left in government is worth close to nothing.

Also, Soludo on Monday had tackled Obi, saying he can’t win the 2023 presidential election.

Soludo Remains My Brother’
Reacting on Tuesday in Lagos, Obi described Soludo as his brother.

“He (Soludo) remains my brother, we are very close. I remain prayerful for him. For other things which I didn’t succeed at, God has given him opportunity to do it and succeed.

“So, if there is anything pending, governance doesn’t finish, people are still in government in America, so you stop where you will stop, other people will continue from there,” Obi said.

“He is the governor of the state; he is my senior brother, he is even more intelligent than me because he is a professor, I am a trader, so he knows more and will be able to do things better than I am doing it.

“I have done my little own as a trader, now the professor is there he will do his own as a professor, the schools I didn’t roof he will roof them, that’s how government goes.”

The former governor said he left the office with the savings of 75 Billion Naira, adding that his administration saved 50 million dollars each in Access, Diamond and Fidelity banks with an interest rate of 6.5%.

He further clarifies, “The one they said is worthless, we invested 3.5 billion naira in International Breweries…that facility is there employing directly and indirectly over 10,000 Anambarians. The shares was at a time being sold at N50, today the shares is about N5 or so.

“When you spread your investment some will go up some will come down but overall the company is still there, the company is still doing well, it is still part of the global chain and everything. I needed to explain it not because I am defending comments by my brother,” the LP candidate said.

He said he left the office without owing any contractor, supplier who had executed their job, citing the examples of Innoson Motors and Zinos Computers.

Imagine a so-called professor comparing a government house building that won't add a single benefit to the common man to a company that employed hundreds of people and pays tax to the state government.

That's been the problem with most SE politicians – seeking favor from people who don't care about you by spreading useless propaganda against your own.

Those cheering him on will immediately remind him he's IPOB the moment he declares for presidency.

Soludo could not have succeeded him at that time cos he was in PDP and everyone knows that Anambra State is APGA which was why Soludo defected to APGA otherwise he would have still being in political wilderness

Thank you for featuring this throwback. Make it better.

papyjaypaul:
What a funny statement to make as governor. We play too much in this country. Soludo was a former CBN governor and professor, he should know better but they say when you enter politics, you start to think like the average politician. This is the same Soludo that wants to become a president undecided

The last time a president visited for a commissioning was in 2012 for a brewery,
When a president commissions a brewery in a state, it’s not just about drinks, it’s about serious economic development . That kind of project creates jobs for the people, the youths get to work in production, logistics, even farming, since they’ll need maize, sorghum, and cassava from local farmers. It boosts small businesses too, from bottle suppliers to transporters and shop owners. Government go benefit through taxes, while the community sees steady income and better standard of living. If they run am well, no cut-corner, the place fit even export and put Nigeria name for map. This kind of investment dey promote local content, reduce import wahala, and push real development wey people fit see and feel.

but today, the president is here to commission roads spanning several kilometers, flyovers, a government house, and more.”

When a president commissions roads, flyovers, or a government house, the benefits to the average citizen are often structural and long-term. Roads improve access, reduce travel time, and support the movement of goods and services. Flyovers ease congestion in urban areas, enhancing productivity. A government house may improve administrative efficiency, but its impact on everyday livelihoods is largely symbolic or procedural.

In contrast, commissioning a brewery delivers more immediate, tangible benefits to the common man. It creates direct jobs in manufacturing, logistics, and distribution, while indirectly supporting farmers, transporters, and small business owners. It injects money into the local economy, supports agriculture, and builds industrial capacity.

While infrastructure is foundational, a brewery represents active economic participation, it puts food on tables and money in wallets far more directly. Both are necessary, but one touches lives faster and more visibly.

If only our politicians will be mature enough to know that it's all for the people. There's no competition in this life.

Obi once replied him, if you know how to do it better than me, do it. All these comparisons make Soludo, the learned professor look smaller than a trader. Soludo should be ashamed that it's the past he is fighting while his mates are in the future.

Though Soludo is doing well today, he is just embittered that Peter Obi dwarfs him given their political appeal.

Anambra had the first female governor in Nigeria. Her name is Virginia Etiaba.

ELECTED FEMALE DEPUTY GOVERNORS
Lagos was the first state to elect a female deputy governor. In 1992, during a short civilian rule, Micheal Otedola was elected governor of Lagos state under the National Republic Convention (NRC) with Sinatu Ojikutu as his running mate.

Ojikutu served in that capacity till November 1993 when the military took over.

In 1999, Nigeria transitioned to civilian rule. Bola Tinubu won the Lagos governorship election under the Alliance for Democracy (AD) party with Kofoworola Akerele-Bucknor as his running mate.

From that time, the likes of Adebisi Sosan, Adejoke Orelope-Adefulire, and Oluranti Adebule went on to serve as elected female deputy governors of Lagos between 2007 to 2019.

Abiodun Olujimi was appointed by Ayo Fayose as the first female deputy governor of Ekiti from September 2005 to 2006. Funmilayo Olayinka deputised Kayode Fayemi from 2010 to 2013 before her demise while Modupe Adelabu became the deputy governor in May 2013.

In Ogun state, Salimat Badru served as the deputy governor from 2003-2011, and Yetunde Onanuga was the deputy governor of the state from 2015 to 2019.

In Osun, Olusola Obada served as deputy governor from 2003 to 2010 during the administration of Olagunsoye Oyinlola, while Titilayo Laoye-Tomori became the deputy governor of the state from 2010 to 2018.

Pauline Tallen became the deputy governor of Plateau state in 2007, and the first woman to be a deputy governor in northern Nigeria while Ipalibo Banigo deputised Nyesom Wike in Rivers from 2015 to 2023.

Cecilia Ezeilo served as the deputy governor to Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi after winning the state governorship election in 2015.

Noimot Salako-Oyedele was elected alongside Dapo Abiodun in Ogun state in 2019, the same year Balarabe was sworn in as the first female deputy governor of Kaduna.

In 2022, Balarabe was chosen as the running mate to Uba Sani. In March 2023, she was re-elected as the deputy governor.

That's what anyone who has been pummeled and have no clapback would say grin

One of the qualities Obidients bandied about with Obi is competency and when you showed them all the many instances where Obi have shown gross incompetency, they will run away just like their master is doing here.

Then we will not fail to tell them all Nigerian politicians are shit including Obi. So vote your shit and let everyone vote their own shit in peace grin

Don't try to bully anyone into voting your candidate.
