LegendHero:Oga park one side, We are not as dumb as this govt assume We borrow money from banks or even fintech app, principal + interest sums up your debt you dont partition it for bank If you owe gtb 55k (principal + interest) you simply work a repayment plan of 55k .. you dont tell bank i 1st want to pay principal i will pay interest aside .... thats riduculous to the ear sef when it comes to common sense, Apc/Tinubu are nothing but a disappointment |

richmond500:But have they paid it? The answer is No. Then why make a broadcast of something that is yet to be concluded? Guy propaganda doesn't pay so take a chill pill and stop. |
| Re: International Debts: Why Nigeria Still Owes IMF Millions by richmond500: 5:56pm On May 09, 2025 |
theredaddy:If u are conversant with loan acquisition, u will know that if u collect loan, u can pay off the principal amount to stop the interest from accumulating. |

Irony1:Have they not paid the loan? Has IMF not removed Nigeria from list of debtors? Wetin be ur argument again? Oya go and tell IMF to add Nigeria back as list of debtors na. By the way the amount is SDR + charges which is till 2029. Nigeria can decide to pay or not pay SDR. |
| Re: International Debts: Why Nigeria Still Owes IMF Millions by richmond500: 6:01pm On May 09, 2025 |
Adaumunocha:they have cleared the loan, what they have left is SDR and charges. SDR It's not part of the loan, it's an asset |
| Re: International Debts: Why Nigeria Still Owes IMF Millions by richmond500: 6:02pm On May 09, 2025 |

richmond500:loan e.g We paid 3.4 billion of 6 billion debt .. if they talk am like that will Tinubu die ... Repaid means you have cleared All no outstanding You funny, some of us know real good news ... Tinubu paid 3.4billion of imf loan but the crook president have collect 13billion loan just in 2yrs 13 - 3.4bn now what good about the news |
| Re: International Debts: Why Nigeria Still Owes IMF Millions by Irony1: 6:03pm On May 09, 2025 |
richmond500:Look stop trying to spin a false narrative people are not foolish. IMF can remove you if you have paid up a significant part of your obligations which is what Nigeria has done, but are they still owing interest payments yes Does that mean they are free from IMF indebtedness? NO |
| Re: International Debts: Why Nigeria Still Owes IMF Millions by Irony1: 6:05pm On May 09, 2025 |
richmond500:Bros Nigeria is still owing and we are not free from IMF indebtedness yet, stop lying to people. |
| Re: International Debts: Why Nigeria Still Owes IMF Millions by LegendHero(m): 6:10pm On May 09, 2025 |
theredaddy:Leave all this jargons. Just show us on IMF page how much Nigeria owe. Whether you call am principal or interest. I am waiting! |
| Re: International Debts: Why Nigeria Still Owes IMF Millions by theredaddy: 6:10pm On May 09, 2025 |
richmond500:Maybe from a bank you built yourself, the main juice for lending houses is that " interest" you can't dictate terms to your financial lender Every loan carries a duration and interest rate when you do the calculation you get your "Debt" you dont partition debt for bank, Total sum you owe is the focus ... you can only select installment amount its mischievous to use the word "repaid" when you gave not hit the total debt |
| Re: International Debts: Why Nigeria Still Owes IMF Millions by richmond500: 6:12pm On May 09, 2025 |
Irony1:Now listen, SDR is asset that IMF member natuons has in IMF. That is what Nigeria has to pay. The asset doesn't belong to IMF, it belongs to the country to enable them have liquidity with IMF. Nigeria is not owing IMF any loan, yes there are charges to previous loans but SDR is not a loan. |

Ordinarily, this is not an issue, but apc have made it a habit ot telling half truths. The interest, while little compared to the principal, is still a loan. Besides, the loan had been structured from day one with guarantees to ensure no default. So it is not as if BAT did anything extra in repaying the principal. The principal loan was simply paid as at when and due. I cannot recall Nigeria defaulting on an IMF loan in the last 20 years. |

theredaddy:Who da faq is Fij? I broke the news that Nigeria do not owe IMF any kobo just by simply going to their website to confirm. None within that Fij circle is as informed as me. Just go on IMF website and you will see if Nigeria is owing anything to IMF. Stop depending on fake media for all info. |

This is a repeated thread. I know some people are not happy with the development, but there is nothing they can do about it even though this feet was achieve by a president they hate so much and always looking for a negative incidents to hang on his neck so as to brighten the chances of their preferred candidates in 2027. We should all be happy with this development though the credit goes to Tinubu but it is for the benefits of all Nigerians because this is even better than forgiveness of our debt which Former Obasanjo achieved during his regime. This has placed us on an enviable position in the committee of nations. |

Brendaniel:Another angle from yet another okwerey fellow. Your other brothers were claiming he didn’t pay the money at all while others are saying he paid ONLY the principal. Past leaders recklessly collected loans to the tune of billions of dollars and accrued so much interest, then a new leader decided to pay off this billions. IT MIGHT INTEREST YOU TO KNOW THAT OUR PAST LEADERS ENJOYED AND PREFERRED SERVICING THOSE LOANS THAN PAYING THEM OFF ONCE AND FOR ALL but rather than praising the one who have chosen to be different (by not paying interest upon interest, leaving the main principal) you okworos have chosen to fail to acknowledge the brilliant work all in the name of politics. I can’t seem to be able to wrap my head around why a particular set of people would always chose to be angry about positive things. Like why? Let’s be honest, are you people really normal because I see no reason why a normal human being would be angry about this?. Healthy opposition politics isn’t played this way. Normal humans should be more angry at those who collected these loans and should be asking questions about what and what our past leaders all did with the monies but rather than asking these pertinent burning questions, you are rather fixated on checking if he truly paid off the loans or not with the mischievous aim of finding out he didn’t. Don’t they celebrate good things in your family? You are just too predictable. I knew the goalpost would change to something else once you and that Arise short boy eventually find out he did pay off the loans. |
