So, Obi was against Nigerians protesting against Jonathan's subsidy removal, while urging for protests when Tinubu did same. More baffling, he was caught on tape saying subsidy was a scam and he wouldn't allow it to stay a day longer if he becomes president
How are the two situations same, from 90 to 120 and from 190 to 1200

I know there was corruption under Jonathan's regime but the level of looting and corruption after Jonathan's regime till now is unprecedented.

Boko Haram, bandits and the protest were all politics by illiterate Power mongers who know nothing about administration of a country. It all backfired and with the way things are going, Nigeria is beyond redemption.

If you compare the situation today with that of 2012, there was absolutely no need to protest

The so-called protesters, where are they now. Are they all dead? That’s the question Obi asked, a valid question
You can't compare apple and oranges. During Jonathan's time OBJ had paid off many of the debts so debt servicing was low. The price of crude oil was high. The reserves were high. These two helped him to subsidize petroleum products and fx. He didn't inherit backlog of unpaid obligations. The subnationals were not broke to the extent of owing months of salaries. He didn't invest in infrastructure. Without having the future in mind what then did he need the increase for.

Back to the present situation, all the above adverse conditions were obtainable when this regime took over. Without removal of subsidy on FX and petroleum products Nigeria would have been totally grounded by now. The country is afloat today and meeting her obligations at subnational, federal as well as internationally because of the subsidy removal. So why should you protest now and refuse to protest then? Most likely your answer will be hardship. The present hardship is caused by past leaders reluctance to take the decision that is taken today when the pain would have been less because they didn't want to be unpopular.

Aside from the nearly completed Abuja - kaduna railway to placate the north so that they can support his reelection in 2015.....there was no single achievement in the GEJ government for 6 years! Several fuel subsidy and crude swap billionaires created overnight.

No balls whatsoever.....
Re: You’re Very Wrong, Aisha Yesufu Disagrees With Peter Obi Over 2012 Protest by Ironfaceman(m): 6:33pm On May 09, 2025
Some brainless people will argue that Nigeria was making more money then than now.

That the corruption of then is what is affecting now

And that if they did not protest then we won't be enjoying now.

What they are enjoying I don't know.

Bobloco:
Those who organized, sponsored, and financed the 2012 Ojota protest against subsidy removal have now taken credit for removing the very subsidy they once opposed. This development underscores one clear reality: their actions were driven by political motives rather than genuine patriotism

Aisha sometimes talks too much. 80% of the protests against Jonathan was political and not about real hardship.

Beside the protests for chibok girls other protests were politically induced.

PO's position was clear. And every right thinking person would have understood. There wasn't much hardship when we protested in Jonathan's time; there is gargantuan hardship now and the place is so quiet.

Why cant pèter obi organize a protest?

Why is he hiding behind others
So you and your likes would bad mouth him and accuse him of trying to topple Tinubu government by anarchy simply because he lost the presidential election.

If Peter Obi hits the street now, the result will speak for itself but man is wiser than APshit. And we his followers know better.

The organizers of the protest are now in power, U don't expect them to organize protest against themselves, opposition are the ones now expected to organize and lead the protest

I agree with obi here.

The price increase was in our favor. But Nigerians refused to see.

Our reward was more debt and more loss of billions of dollars.

Subsidy should have gone in 2012. The problem is Nigerians then and now refused to see.

Many people are getting the statement wrong. It was a subtle jab on the organisers of the protest like the likes of soyinka, Adewoye, Tinibu etc. Where are they now? 🤔

Accountability and Healthy criticism are what we want, love, desire for and voted to a better Nigeria . Peter Obi is not God and neither is anybody in the party. If you make mistakes they correct you and that’s how America and western nations move forward but who can correct tinubu? You now have an idea why he made a total mess of Nigeria within two years
cheesy oh really? So saint obi can make a mistake? We thought we were made to believe he was perfect and does no wrong according to ipobidient minions grin

And very unfortunately, over 90% of those who participated in the protest didn’t know they were being used for someone selfish purposes. They believed they were fighting for their rights; just like the animal farm.

Simple illustration some people will not understand. Wat peter obi meant is dat, dose people dat protested against jonathan wen fuel increased to #120 (5% increase) from #87 kept quiet wen fuel increased to #1300 (600% increaed) from #200. Wat is d essence of d protest in 2012 wen dose dat protested kept quiet in 2023 wen fuel increased from #200 to #1300. Many powerful people dat protested against jonathan wen fuel increase to 120 were silient in 2023 wen fuel were wz increased to 1300

True true Nigeria has a large number of low IQ people.

She was actually not disagreeing with obi in that regard, but saying " if we don't protest today , we're leaving it for the future, when the price would be outrageous " .

Really, announcing the removal on 1st of January or announcing it without any indication and input from anyone?
