When they reduce, owo foundation, owo decking, owo roofing, Jide should come and tell us to reduce rent. His agencies have doubled fees payable to government. A bag of cement is 11k, iron rods, planks, gravel, sands and labour. grin grin grin grin
don't mind them, currently the omonile in one of my site is asking us to pay the sum of 1.5m for roofing. After all these won't we get our money back? Better still let them cancel land use charge from their end.

Let Edo State take a cue from this and do the needful.

You actually made sense with your submission. Only 10% of rent should be charged. Scrap agreement and caution fees. People really don't care about the rent, but against the free monies attached to it by agents.
But, do you realise the Agents only collect the Commission attached to those other fees paid.

The Agreement and Caution still goes to the Landlord.

See, the Agent contribute less to the Housing issue we are facing and their own excesses can easily be controlled but the Government failed to address the issue properly.

The main reason for the rising cost in Housing are mostly caused by: high cost for acquiring the Land, high cost of building material, high amount of money paid to Govt building agencies to get approvals and high amount of money collected by Omoniles at every stage of construction.

Let's keep blaming the landlords only, if you have a building in Lagos you will understand.

Though I agree the excesses of these agents should be checked they are becoming a menace to the society.

As for people making reference to old buildings, do you realize it might be the source of the landlords livelihood, he's a business owner too. Do you know most of these houses require maintenance which is quite high.

If you can support the government increasing electricity tarrif calling it cost reflexive, su sidy removal calling it living fake life, other traders increase their prices you applaud them but you want rent to remain fairly priced continue deceiving yourself.

The state government should build affordable and cheap apartments for rent instead of making noise.
They have built already, but no matter how many they build, they can't cover the entire population. The population in Lagos is very large

It seems you are one of the beneficiaries of the nonsense....

Still not an excuse to give out a room and parlour with one toilet at 1.3 million yearly with agency fee at 250k and Agreement 250k . The house is even remodelled and was restricted to only Yoruba tenants.

A 2 bedroom at 1.5 million, agreement/commission 600k caution 200k in a slum like Papa Ajao, Mushin
LASG can build low cost houses and rent it out at N100k. grin grin grin grin

They should keep building more cheap and affordable... there's nothing like "they have built already"...

it is very stupid of LASG to accuse landlords or exploitation since majority of the Landlords are Yorubas then it is very foo:lish of a Yoruba run government to start been anti- Yoruba...

That was how Fashola carried his big head and amended the law to favor tenants due his stupid law tenants can stay in an apartment for 6 months without paying rent..

I'm not even blaming landlords for fixing high rents. It's those crazy agreement and caution fees that's my concern. My cousin recently concluded his building in Lagos, and i know how much he spent on government agencies alone.
