Matthew 19: 10-12. But read verse 9 too.

Jesus didn't say don't marry. But the apostles found the terms of marriage, especially the only valid reason for divorce and remarriage, quite strict. So the apostles felt marriage is not worth the stress on those terms.

As we know, no apostles got married after joining Jesus' ministry.

In most religions, the acts of early religious men become a guide to later leaders.

So, if apostles, with all their gifts and anointing found marriage daunting, it's even more so now. Catholics follow that practice.

But long ago, catholic priests could get married.

Lol. So many people don't know the pope is also a president (sort of) of the smallest city in the world so he go earn.

none of Jesus deciples were lazy and they earned money but they used it to serve God, feeding people etc during evangelism.

In the bible Jesus did miracle sometimes to multiply food that was already available. How were the food made available including the last supper when he wasn't working.

The question should be what does he do with the money ,(charity I believe) and expansion of evangelism

What does a Pope need money for. Free food, free house, no taxes for life, no pension or gratuity to pursue and when he eventually dies free burial for that matter.

By his creed no bling to covet, no children means no school fees to pay and no inheritance to lay up. And at his age likely no parents to care for.

There is practically no financial obligation a man in his place faces. Must be the best job in the world.

They own no shares or properties anywhere.

The Pope is the CEO of a global corporation called Catholic church. He gets the same protection as CEOs of Apple, Meta, Tesla, etc. He is voted in by Board of Directors (aka Cardinals). It is just a matter of semantics. It is a business entity. Poor people see it as a religious organization. Rich people and wealth managers approach them for the business side of the organization.

Why would someone doing God's work draw such a huge salary when he has no mortgages to pay nor wife and kids to take care of?

Bishops: Regional Managers
Parish priests: Branch Managers
Catechists: Managers' Aides/ Special Assistants
