Why do people tend to believe that all children from broken relationships are deeply affected by the situation?

I know someone who's left the marriage for 4 years now. He focused on the children to make sure they did not feel the impact of the separation between him and their mom. One of his girls is now in university and doing excellently well too. The other just wrote UTME and scored above 300. He tells me he makes sure he never gives them a moment to think about their parents not being together.

With good moral, psychological, spiritual, and financial support, those children will be no different from their peers with both parents together.
