But you'd have to build above 100k subscribers and have at least 1m views on your videos before you can start earning something reasonable.

Achieving such requires extremely hard work.

With long videos up to 1, 2 and 3 hours, the RPM increases and don't forgot a good number of viewers come from top geo countries

I personally don't like the current full length Nigerian movies on YouTube even though the old ones that includes Sam Loco, Pete Eneh and the likes still make sense. Some of these films are so low budget they don't have a good storyline and the actors and actresses don't even leave the house they act in. There's no variety in locations even character wise, some of them can't act their characters properly.

I'd want us to explore other themes such as Persistence, Loyalty, War, Revenge, Loss of job, Life of a young person after tertiary education, Road rage that led to a cascade of event that connects multiple people, Loss of parents, Crime etc not everytime Love film and Grass to Grace, that's by the way. We need to promote cinema culture again in Nigeria we've come so far putting movies for free like that on YouTube feels like an insult, except you're finding your feet in the industry then you can drop your films on YouTube and if possible do short films 10 to 30 minutes long.

Look at the music scene, see how well they're doing, we need to promote our films as well, some times I see some Nigerian films in some of these Film festivals, it's a thing of pride you know? from Cannes Film Festival to Toronto International Film Festival and other festivals around the world. Maybe we should have an indigenous one as well, believe me there are lots of stories, good stories out there. Then we need to produce and package our films as well, if it is, people would show up in cinemas for these films, host small talks shows on TV, radio, podcasts, outings.

I know funding is an issue when it comes to production in Nigeria, I think as a collective we can achieve more, maybe a group pull in funds kind of like crowd funded projects. Maybe these can then fund the various companies that are involved in production. It can also be a sort of investment, investor pull in money after the person in charge of the film presents all relevant documents and details for the film and are cross checked, though risky Wedding Party is one that did well so there promise.

Or still we can create good films (wey no dey tear pocket) with even the little we have, I've seen some indie films from the US do well also, just have to be strategic about it.
