Hi guys, Would be doing a review of a Mazda Cx-5 and Mazda cars in general. Mazda cars have come a long way from their humble beginnings to their partnership with Ford , so glad they left ford , they were using Ford engines which had lots of issues especially with the water pump location and being prone to failure leading to a possible engine replacement due to its location. In 2017, Toyota bought a 5% stake in Mazda and it’s been growing tremendously. The Mazda Cx-5 is still made in Japan and doesn’t use a CVT transmission, it’s very very reliable and up there with Toyota and Lexus and way more reliable than present day Honda that uses a 1.5l turbo paired with a CVT transmission. If you looking at getting a Mazda try getting from 2016 upwards and avoid the years with a Ford Engine please. The pictures attached is a Mazda CX-5 2017 very rugged and reliable car . 2.5L naturally aspirated engine and a regular 5 speed automatic transmission .

Realteeyee123:So how long have you used it ? Has it been purely maintenance or at a point you had other issues with it ? Do you think it’s a viable choice in Nigeria, giving the fact it’s a recent model Mazda, would part procurement be easy also. |

Louiscars:Got this recently, but previously driven one and have lots of friends who do, and its a very very reliable ride, with a low cost of maintenance. Its a very viable choice in Nigeria, its a Japanese car and any mechanic can easily work on it. Parts are also readily available at Ladipo too and other neighbouring markets. With respect to issues, no issues at all just regular maintenance that's all is required, again it was a properly built car thanks to its Industry leading and revolutionary Skyactiv technology. Watch Engineering Explained on Youtube to see the breakdown of how the Skyactiv technology was developed and the Comparison with other similar engines. Its truly an Engineering masterpiece. Very very well built engine and transmission. |

Great review. All cx-5 have the skyactiv technology ( production started in 2012 to replace cx-7 and tribute) I love everything about the cx-5! I am considering it for my next ride. Skyactiv engines and transmissions are really reliable! |

inyangd4:You so correct, its an amazing vehicle, good thing about the transmission is its not CVT. That would be a great purchase, though I observed its not on Jiji especially from the 2017 model upwards its pretty hard to find. Nigerians are really sleeping on the car. |

Realteeyee123:I have been carefully looking out for it on Nigeria car sale platforms but is scarce. In the meantime, let me enjoy my 012 m3. I have upgraded the engine to 016 skyactiv 2.0l engine. I am still in love with my m3. |

Oh that's lovely. Skyactiv technology is amazing and an engineering feat. Yh I've observed its scarce to find too, and if you find its so expensive too. Those who know literally don't hesitate to grab it. |

Realteeyee123:I've been searching for a pristine one to purchase for the past 2years now. Most of the ones shipped in are usually accidented and repaired. Those who know it's value do not sleep on it. |

Absolutely correct, would be great if you just ship it yourself. Try getting the 2017 CX-5 model upwards with the Skyactive technology 2.5L engine, Mazda turbo is very very reliable but cause you in Nigeria and we know how our mechanics are, would say avoid the Turbo not because they aren't reliable but cause of your location and the technical expertise present. But if you have a very very good and reliable mechanic by all means go for the Turbo variant but change your oil every 4,000 - 5,000 miles. Regular oil change is key to getting 300,000 miles and more from those cars. |

You guys are 100% right. Nigerians are sleeping on Mazda. Everyone is chasing Toyota and lexus which have become so expensive. I'm in the process of procuring a CX5 for the US. Just reviewing options on copart etc.. I'm worried about the basic parts for servicing the car. Breakpads, rotors, oil filter, air filter etc.. I reside in Abuja. Would be nice to connect with owners of this CX5 on here. Thanks |
