A member of the Kano State House of Assembly representing Sumaila constituency, Hon. Zubairu Hamza Masu, has dumped the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP) for the All Progressives Congress (APC).

Hon. Masu, in a resignation letter addressed to the Speaker of the House, Rt. Hon Ismail Falgore, cited factionalisation and litigations rocking the NNPP as his major reason for leaving the party.

The Speaker, who read the letter on the floor of the House during Monday’s plenary, announced Masu’s resignation from the party effective from May 12, 2025, pledging his total loyalty to the APC leadership at the ward, state, and national levels.

The lawmaker further explained that several individuals from both the State and national levels were claiming leadership positions within the NNPP, mentioning Dr. Suleiman Hashim Dungurawa and Senator Mas’ud El-Jibrin Doguwa, at state level, while Dr. Ahmed Ajuji and Dr. Agbo Major were claiming chairmanship at national level, with litigations in the court suffocating the party.

Atiku's main problem is selfishness and the fact that he is a political opportunist!

Instead of him to stay in one party and build a solid foundation he is busy jumping from party to party, that is the same problem Peter Obi has also although he is not as individualistic and selfish like Atiku

Interests at the top will be too diverse to converge under one person.

Once Mr Tinubu leaves office, the next President automatically becomes too powerful for an ex president to control. See what happened to Mr Obasanjo.

If I were Mr Tinubu, the day I leave the Presidency is that day I retire from politics. Even Lagos politics, I will withdraw 100%. Anything short of that is to leave yourself opened to being rubbished.

He has reached the zenith of politics in Nigeria, and has established himself as one of the most accomplished politicians in Nigeria's history.

Better to quit at the top, than return to Lagos and start playing competitive politics with the likes of the Lagos Speaker. Some of these people will not listen to him anymore anyway. That's life.

I was reliably informed by a source who prefers not to be named that the massive defections from the Northern block to APC is to make sure Tinubu fails at the primaries because they will all vote for a Northerner as the party's flag bearer in 2027.
