superlanny:
Na naija police this one dey follow talk? Abuse by the police is a normal thing and it happens everyday across the nation despite all the warning and advice that it's unprofessional, their ogas know that greed, criminality and illiteracy would never allow their boys to be professional.

Nigeria police that have been reduced to professional body guards for VIPs.

We need a total overhaul of that organisation from top to bottom, a clean start.
What did you expect him to say again for the sake of the event?

Yet it happens everyday, DPOs in police stations have been reduced to bench clerks they have zero control over their men since it is their officers on the roads that get imprests for them.

Not just to keep mentioning unprofessional, make a law to that effect of unprofessional conducts in the NPF just like the developed countries.

Stop daily words, unprofessional without consequences and punishment to back it up.

Great! However the foundation of the training of the typical Nigerian policeman is what demands a serious change! A look at their training manual will reveal much! I dare say that the typical Nigerian Army soldier is generally more professional than the Nigerian policeman!
Agreed. Hence why it’s beats my imagination that our leaders are always aloof or obtuse about the atrocities committed by our law enforcement agents.

As complex as the United States is, the president addresses minute issues such as sacking air traffic controllers.

What would it take Mr President to give his time to reform the police? A worthy legacy in my opinion.

Our political leaders lack empathy for the people. Empathy is a necessary requirement for successful leadership.

I remember an encounter with a police officer at Sango, Ibadan. As an Okada man, an agbero stopped me and asked for money but I refused to give him. A police came from behind, remove my bike key and said I didn't parked very well. I pushed my bike to where he went and sit down with a woman to beg him but as usual he said I must pay. He asked for my papers and driving license and I show him, then he demanded for 1k. I query him what the money was meant for but to my greatest annoyance the man said if I can't pay I should leave his presence. He said I'm scrubbing my body that didn't I take my bath that day. I was so furious by what he said , what an insult. I didn't show a sign of anger but I politely asked him if he was using his age to insult me or he was just using the uniform to oppressed me. I later Gabe him 1k and left the scene. He was still at Sango Ibadan but I don't know his name.
