myopic analyser 70.000 is for the lowest of the lowest civil servant .. civil servant are receiving upto almost 400k it depends on your great level, ministry an other considerations... Even a business man that just started his business is not earning 70k he will have to grow just like they senior civil servant too an there are even some old business men that can't even afford what to eat Talk more of to pay rent or to build a house .

oga abeg keep quiet u have the least of ideas on how civil servants are living /surviving i had to login into my account just so i can reply u first of no state civil servant earn up to 150k at entry which is level 8 unless they stay in lagos the only people who earn abit better are Federal civil servants /health workers because their salary structure is diffrent ,speaking from experience no civil servant can afford to build a house unless they somehow manage a government contract which means they cant be depending on salary
I am a state civil servant with 14+ years working experience. i have and live in my own building. i drive good cars and nope, i didn't get any government contract.

i have had good offers from GLO and some other cool companies and i turned them down. if i leave this job ( which will be soon), it is so that i can go into teaching/lecturing.

Civil Service job gives you TIME …. TIME…. any man that have time at his disposal and stil complain needs help and reorientation

Why would a Mason and Labourer be collecting such ridiculous amount.

A Mason should receive at least N10,000 daily while a Labourer should receive at least N5000 daily.

In Highbrow Areas like Island and it Extensions, Some Professional Masons receives N15,000 daily while Labourers receives N8000 To N10,000 daily.

Your mates are outside making it you are on nairaland wasting your time analysing. Find something to do. People are building houses
No one is saying people are not building houses, but not from a salary below 500k monthly. Even 1m monthly is difficult to build.

Lol they've access to Loan or through Mortgage...
How much loan can you collect on a salary below 500k. Do the maths and see that it would take you over ten years to build.

Go out and find something to do. It's too early. Typing on nairaland cannot build you a house. Find something else to do.

Lol you people talk down everything...

Do you know how many years it took my ordinary Commercial savings bank account to even qualify for 100k loan before they start upgrading it.. I no wan even go my business account....

Maybe the Govt should just sack everyone and be transparent and share the money they pay as salary and give it to SME then... Maybe that money you say is small you won't feel it and protest....

You don't talk with wisdom, 30k before 2015 could feed his family compare to now that he earn 70k. What if all his children were born before Buhari/Tinubu economic meltdown?

For instance around 1990s and early 2000s, there were civil servants with 7 children that are living fine. Some even send their children to private schools then.
I'll try my best not to be as silly as you are. Using insults to answer a simple question. You are clearly not a family man, cos na your type dey use calculations for everything. Even before 2014, I see no reason why a civil servant on minimum wage should be having 5 kids.

We civil servant staff don't go to work everyday, unlike private jobs that you will be going to work Monday to Friday..so,we get plenty of time to do other stuff, like me,I only go to work twice in a week.the advantage of civil servant work is that you have enough time to do other stuff.there is job security, you get promotion every 3 yrs and ur retirement benefits is secure... building of house by the civil servant staffs is made possible through mortgage and other contributions within the system, come to my agency, level 8 officers is building house... lastly,if you are a civil servant,to
access loans through banks is possible...
My place of work refused to give me consent letter to access a loan in UBA. What do I do? UBA said “Introduction/consent letter is a must” but my place of work says they can’t give.

TIPS TO MINIMIZE CONSTRUCTION COST

1. Make A Budget-Conscious Plan
It’s critical to plan out the procedure before beginning any job, which is something that all construction teams do. In order to save money, the planning phase should include a budget restriction and techniques to stay within budgetary constraints

Then, after the project is up and running, all procedures should be compared to the financial plan on a regular basis. If the initial plan specifies a precise limit for manual labor, finding the correct number of people is a top priority.

2. Choose Alternative Materials
Using cheaper, alternate building materials that are either more effective or more available overall is one of the more obvious strategies to save money. Keep in mind that material alternatives should be explored when working out project specifications with a client or customer.
Some customers may object to particular materials, making the selection process more challenging. However, in many circumstances, recycled materials may be a preferable choice.

3. Minimize Construction Waste
Sustainable construction methods aim to reduce a project’s environmental impact by minimizing construction waste, restricting energy and resource consumption, and deploying smarter, more effective labor practices. While some are related to green or environmentally friendly measures, the ultimate goal is to minimize excess

4. Make A Set Of Structural Drawings
It is critical to prepare structural designs for the house. The majority of individuals are unaware of this and are unaware of building structural designs. They were solely thinking about the building’s architectural plans.

They probably want to avoid liability in the event that you default on the loan.

The only way you can circumvent having to present a letter of consent from your employer is if you offer the bank a good collateral
