Meanwhile alot of our military killed yesterday, no statement from President or retaliation from our military against the terrorist. Airforce expecially are not doing enough.

Two weeks ago I remembered that Air Force Day was approaching. Then I forgot.

The sight of 3 Attak helicopters and 2 Super Tucanos flying over Five Cowrie Creek last Friday reminded me. One of the helicopters was carrying the Nigerian flag.

The Nigerian Air Force was founded on April 18th, 1964 (61 years ago). There have been open days (when members of the public are allowed to visit selected air bases and aircraft), medical outreach, sports competitions and other activities to mark the event.

Of course the activity that has caught the attention of the public the most has been the air display. People have been trying to find out what's going on.

Nice one.

But it’s high time we started parading Nigerian-built fighter jets.

If Pakistan and India can manufacture fighter jets, nothing stops us from doing the same and more.
Those guys are far disciplined and hardworking than us

I can swear with my left ear, the Nigerian Air Force is more powerful than the US and Russia Air Force put together.

So what you are trying to tell me in 2025 is that the Nigerian Air Force has not been involved in battling insurgents, rather they just stored aircraft for display??

Our Generals are worshipping politicians instead of thinking and solving critical problems.

It's seems like a group of comedians have decided to use this place to test out their jokes.

It looks like comedians have decided to use this thread to test their jokes. They are pretending that they do not know that the Air Force has been battling insurgents.

That’s your low self-esteem talking.

If we set up a program to build fighter jets, we will build fighter jets.

It’s as simple as that.

Pakistan builds fighter jets.

I’ve done the research. No need to argue.

And take your bodyguard duties for “the west” elsewhere please.

All mouth.

They are already battling Boko Haram while you are sitting down and making mouth. If it's easy, why don't you go and show them how to do it?

I'm new here, so I don't know much about Nigeria and its insurgencies, but in India, Indian government has a law that prevents Indian Armed Forces from being used for internal security duty except in special cases like Jammu and Kashmir.
And even in Jammu and Kashmir, they are not allowed to use any heavy weaponry like tanks, jets, attack helicopters, etc. Basically, Indian laws prevent usage of heavy Indian weapons against its own citizens no matter the situation, even if it is insurgency and seperatism.

Does Nigeria not have a similar law? Maybe that is the reason the Nigerian Air Force isn't participating in anti- insurgency operations?

Same with the Nigerian military, or they would have wiped out the terrorists in 1 day.

They are restrained in how they can fight back, to avoid civilian casualties.
