No vex I, are things really difficult in Nigeria at the moment? I don't know why I'm finding it hard to believe things are hard as peddled in some quarters.

How is Trump a master of the game here?
So if your brother is not a US citizen, but has a green card, and he is working legally and paying his tax; Do you expect his money to be taxed again when he chose to send money to his family or sending money to build a property in his home town?
I think it is better you try to educate yourselves on issues that are beyond your elementary Naija politics.
Trump will go down as one of the worst president in the history of the USA. He is more corrupt than an average Naija politician.

I'm guessing your source of income is from abroad. Or you earn over ₦5m monthly, if you earn in Naira. Otherwise, take an undercover trip to the street. The real street. Even those so-called big clubs are cutting corners selling adulterated drinks to keep costs low. The ones that stick to "OEM" drinks are on life support.

I hadn't been to Shoprite in a while. Went there recently and noticed that the till staff were down to 3. At 5pm on a weekday. While shopping, someone walked to me in the aisle and told me straight up "I'm hungry, please buy some food for me". They are now bold to enter the shop to block people. Before they would hang outside the fence.

My brother, the street is full military

This means that the sender is taxed twice. He pays income tax on receivables and a tax is then imposed on the same money when he is sending it overseas. That's double taxation and I am sure there are laws in the US prohibiting same.
This should be litigated in court. The chances of quashing this tax is high.
maasoap:
What's great about exploitation? Haven't they paid outrageous taxes on their income already?
You didn't read where it says US tax payers and citizens will be exempted

Is it only US citizens that pays tax?
There are people resident in the US with work visas that are not citizens whose incomes are taxed.

For example nonresident alien individual engaged or considered to be engaged in a trade or business in the United States during the year

You can be SURE of one thing - US can never vote for anyone to be knowingly taxed twice. This is targeted at people who remit millions of untaxed monies including drug dealers and those working illegally

Not true. Those class of people will be arrested, prosecuted, jailed and have the monies declared as proceeds of crimes that will then be confiscated.

The people referenced are all classes of people resident in the US who are not citizens or who receive income from the US.

Funny guy. If Tinubu wasn't caught do you think the $1m he forfeited to US would have been taxed. Multiply that by 100's of thousands. Then add all the people working for cash, etc. There's probably more money NOT taxed than taxed.

US would NEVER pass a law whereby people are knowingly taxed twice (except gift or inheritance - which are obviously quite different)

No, I never supported or was against any of his flip-flop policies.
I am not pained by anything he is doing.
We are only having a conversation like civilised people.
You didn't respond to my raised point but were trying to attack my personality.

What's your raised point I didn't respond to?
Most legal immigrants who went through a lot were actually supporting his crackdown on people who simply walked in, and I don't blame them
