It doesn't work like that. If you are a US citizen, even if you decide to work in and live in Nigeria you would still have to pay the US govt tax. Applies to Canadian citizens too.

This is not true, the USA allows dual citizenship, he can retain it if he wants to. The previous pope retained his Argentine citizenship.
The amount in the article is wrong, but as long as he decides to retain his US citizenship, he has to pay tax

Being a sovereign ruler does not automatically negate other citizenships, especially in modern legal systems where dual (or multiple) citizenships are permitted.
Unless renounced there was no law that stopped pope Francis from being an Argentinian and there is no law stopping the current pope from being an American.

Priests in the USA are exempted from tax coz they don't get salary but a stipend which isn't taxable. Same with the Pope. He gets no salary but a stipend which many popes don't even collect. Why do you think it'll be different for Pope Leo?

I thought they said Pope is a poor man, he doesn't earn money. This $30,000 a month and $360,000 a year salary is it a poor man's salary. When you add non taxable allowances it may even reach $1,000,000.

Francis never stepped foot in Argentina, something the Argentine government and people still frown about till today. He didn't go there because he had other things occupying his days, not because he wasn't Argentine.
