Many Rivers people knew the election was rigged for him and the decision was likely influenced by the same people who rigged him in.

At the same time many people were extremely happy when Fubara turned against Nebuchadnezzar.

To many in Rivers, even if the devil himself was fighting Wike, they would support the devil.

So initially people backed Fubara not because they loved him or supported him but because the mentality was "anything but Wike"
