Nigeria Doctors are too narrow minded. They are still the highest paying Civil Servant in Nigeria. The Armed Forces are the most risky work in Nigeria yet they earn meager salaries |

Broveens42:Well, it is what is it. With step ups and wage increments, the salaries keeps going up. But let’s not forget that most of the doctors work minimum 2 place and they could earn about 1.5-2.5 million naira every single month. Especially the senior registrars and consultants. |

Cmanforall:The CONMESS salary scale which medical doctors are paid with is uniform for most institutions approved for residency training. If variations exist, it won't be that much. Even many private hospitals in places like Lagos pay their medical officers above 316k. I have medical and dental doctors around me, so I know what I'm talking about. |

If they want to ask for salary increment, let them do ask legitimately and not this their current antics of bullying other healthcare professionals with inconsequential things like "Dr" title and whatnots |

Let's flip the coin to the other side for a little bit of perspective, It takes peanuts to go through medical school and become a MD, on the other hand what you need to become a MD in the United States in terms of tuition and associated expenses will cost you an arm and a leg, infact roughly speaking it the tuition for 20 MDs in Nigeria maybe equivalent to just one in the US, infact if you use student loan while you are in school it will take you years of grinding work before you can pay back but once you are free from the loan life becomes heavenly because the pay is tremendous |

Racoon:It's not true. Nurses earn 1/4 of whatever doctors earn both in public and private sector in Nigeria. Probably that doctor is in a private hospital where he gets that 180k - but be sure that any hospital in Nigeria that pay doctors 180k will pay graduate nurses 30k |

Jman06:Olodo Are you a resident Doctor ? Who told you no Doctor earn less than 400k in Government Hospital ![]() No Junior registrar earn up to 400k and no senior registrar earn up to 500k in Government hospital. The pay is even lesser in the few private hospitals with facilities for residency . Oga Jman06, say what you know . And yes, I’m a resident Doctor in a federal government hospital in Nigeria. |

Racoon:Not entirely true. Its only true for Doctors aka House Officers working with private hospitals....those working with government hospitals earn between 450k to 750k for the house officers not the medical consultants who earn far higher. Even though I don't like APC and Bola's corrupt, directionless leadership, they should take it easy with the lies ![]() |
