To study and become a doctor in that same UK, you must spend more than 100,000,000 in 5 years.

Then how much do they charge in treating people in UK? Can you pay such amount?

If your takehome is 3k in UK, you may struggle to save £50
you have no clue broski

Doctors work only four(4) days in a week in Nigeria?
Dokitto001:
And can you add that we are only contracted to work 4 days a week.
Extra hour after the 4days is well compensated as overtime.

Obi performed poorly during his governance in Anambra?
Gentledove2001:
Stop taking nonsense and provide evidence to back up your lies. I was a student of Anambra State university when Obi was governor before moving to Unizik to study nursing. I did pre-science in Igbariam campus and got admission to study Anatomy in Uli and I left Uli in my second year to pursue my nursing career in Unizik.

I'm from Awka south in Anambra state. I want an igbo man to be president, but you people should stop all the noise, talk is always cheap, but in terms of governance and performance, Obi performed poorly and he isn't going to be the president of Nigeria. You are just quoting statistics without proof. Before you insult me as usual, I'm a band 6 nurse in the UK. Thank you
Re: Monthly Salary Of Resident Doctors In The UK by Love800(m): 8:34am On May 16, 2025
Thanks for opening my eyes. Why do people in UK always make it seem like they pay alot of bills and nothing to save at the end?
Is they something you are not telling us?
drsibz66:
Basic salary is about 2.5k to 3k. After calls and night duty enhancement .. take home is between. 3.5k to 4.5k depending on your rota

Rent ... 1k
Feeding 500
Electricity, gas, Internet, council tax 500

1.5 to 2.5k bal for you
500 for miscellaneous you can still save 1k to 2k safely every month.

Some people don't even spend up to this amount monthly
Re: Monthly Salary Of Resident Doctors In The UK by Love800(m): 8:37am On May 16, 2025
So what are you saying in earnest?
drsibz66:
That's basic salary.. no doctor takes home less than 3k home in the UK... and that's their house officers which is like the junior of the junior doctors...

Nigerians after plab 1 abd 2 start working in the UK fron FY2 position minimum and rarely.. most .. more than 95 percent start as resident doctor which is SHO. There take home is 3.5 to 4.5 depending on you call duty.

At the end of the month you can save min 1k easily even if you reckless with money...

So that 1k is even more than what you earn in 6 months in Nigeria.. you can't even save 1k or 2mil naira in a year working as a doctor in Nigeria except it ur own hospital.

A year you can save 12k easily and that like 24mil
And you still have money in your account

On that pay one can save £1k or even more depends on how you package yourself.
People live with friends and family
You can rent a room and share other amenities All Inclusive
You can rent and Ensuite room and share kitchen London rent £850 to £1000 All Inclusive
Transport a month cost less than £200
Food Less than £250
The rest of your money is for you to save or do anything you like.

Oh I didn't even know we have diverted to fashola? You obedient are the most useless people in Nigeria, making unnecessary noise with your lying machine. What has fashola got to do with this? I thought you messiah is busy criticising the government but never condemned atrocities happening in his backyard. Talk is cheap, anyway he knows that he can't smell that seat. Someone who failed as governor and didn't build one single school or hospital is una new messiah. Bunch of noise makers.
Bros PO didn't fail naaaa why are you allowing hatred to affect the way you see things.
The truth was Fashola and PO were governors in 201q when doctors went on strike. In Lagos Tinubu advised Fashola to sack the striking doctors which he did. PO took a more pragmatic approach in negotiating with negotiating with the doctors. Saying he didn't build any hospital is a big fat lie.
Also be confident to tell us where you are from as you are not an igbo person neither are you from Awka.

Training a doctor in Nigeria is significantly cheaper than in the UK due to government subsidies. In Nigeria, medical school tuition can range from a few hundred dollars to a few thousand, while UK citizens pay substantial tuition fees and taxpayers cover additional costs, according to a University World News article.
In Nigeria:
Public Universities: Tuition fees are heavily subsidized, with students potentially paying less than $500 for a medical degree.
Private Universities: Tuition fees can range from $6,516 to $10,860 per year or session.
Additional Costs: Besides tuition, students also need to factor in living expenses, books, and other associated costs.
In the UK:
Tuition Fees:
UK citizens pay about £9,250 per year in tuition fees, which is a substantial amount.
Taxpayer Support:
The UK government also provides funding for medical education, with an additional cost of £286,347 borne by taxpayers for medical training.
Student Loans:
Many students also rely on student loans to cover tuition and living expenses.
Additional Costs:
Besides tuition, students also need to factor in living expenses, books, and other associated costs.

We know most of them attend public university, and they will come back and tell us they are getting nothing from the govt
You have defeated yourself in your own argument.
You rightly said that some medical students in Nigeria private universities can pay up to ten thousand dollars per session.
I hope you know what that means in naira?
Then such a person will come out and work in the government hospital and be earning 200 dollar monthly salary.
200 dollar multiply by 12=$2400.
Then compare $2,400 annual income to the $10,000 annual school fees they paid, you will know that you and the government are killing the dreams of people children in that sector.

Since you want to do comparison, you said a UK medical student pays about 9,200 pounds school fees per session.
Then when employed upon graduation,he earns 3,000 pounds per month salary.
3k pounds times 12=36k pounds per anum.
36k pounds -9,200 pounds school fees=26,800.

Then compare the 26,800 pounds gain positive returns in investment in medical education in UK to Nigeria -7600 dollar negative return of investment in medical education.
It is then that you will know that you people are supporting slavery in Nigeria medical system.

Why should the Nigerian doctors earn the Same amount as Doctors in the UK?
Can a Nigerian doctor pay one 1thousand Pounds for a small 2 Bed rooms flat in a month in Nigeria?
You earn according to your standard of living. Stop comparing
So what Nigerian doctors are earning here is according to their standard of living?
How much is a 2 bed room flat in V.I in Lagos,Maitama in Abuja per month and how much is residence doctors starting salary per month?
You people should stop this kind mentality.

million naira is still not up to £1000 pounds, that won't even pay one month's cost for the cheapest courses in most Western schools, and medicine is supposed to be the most expensive.

Yes the govt is subsidising tuition, and many other things that may not be immediately obvious to you.

Appreciate them for that
In those western countries, their government provides good learning environment, teachers are paid well, hardly any strike, life is generally liveable. Can you say same for Nigeria?

No Nigeria is definitely not at their level, Teachers there are definitely not paid well at least by the standard of other workers around them and they do go on strike occasionally.
