What is wrong with PDP is simple :The Greed of Atiku Abubakar to become President by all means even when the odds are evidently against his ambition.

He has assumed an irritating dimension as he continues to remain mute whilst younger party members in the PDP have formed a consensus whilst moving out of the party in droves for him

Dear Alhaji Atiku Abubakar,

Don't allow anybody born of woman to deceive you on 2027, you can not win if you contest, rather throw your support behind a gallant southern candidate and have history write you name in Gold.

Simple !

Atiku is one of the prime problem of PDP. As it stands today, no credible person of principle, value or character is left in PDP. The so called party leaders are collosal failure just like their counter part in APC. So, what is there to attract anyone to stay in PDP when APC is offering money and "forgiveness" of political sins and EFCC cases? It just unfortunate that Nigeria is at its lowest. Suffice to say that we have gotten to our wits end; worst still we don't even know if the situation will still denigrate further.

The chairman that is allegedly compromised, the perennial presidential candidate, thier disunited governors all add up to tear the umbrella.

Thats the basic reason,we have money bags as politicians,no ideology..quote author=malali post=135398805]Let’s not sugarcoat it, PDP isn’t inherently flawed, but it has become politically malnourished after a full decade of APC rule, where access to state machinery, federal contracts, and patronage networks have been ruthlessly monopolized.

10 Years Without Government Access
In Nigerian political calculus, that’s an eternity. Many so-called “honorables” simply cannot sustain relevance, affluence, or influence without the intravenous drip of federal money, padded budgets, and government-sponsored ‘errands.’

Fuel at ₦900, Dollar at ₦1600
This isn’t just economic hardship—it’s systemic deconstruction. Even well-run private businesses are bleeding to death. What chance does an “Excellency” who thrives on constituency allowances, inflated borehole contracts, and photo-ops have?

Asiwaju is using the carrot and stick method, he will starve the hungry weak ones and ask EFCC to pay a visit to the wealthy strong minded ones.

The Coming Defection Avalanche
Watch closely: mass defections will increase, not because of ideological shifts, but out of raw political survival. Like starved lions, they will follow the scent of blood, even if it leads them into enemy territory.

The Real Reform: Demote the Legislature
Until being a Senator or Rep becomes a part-time civic duty (not a multi-billion Naira career), Nigeria’s democracy will continue to operate like an oil-thirsty cartel. Make it part-time, cut the convoy, remove the immunity, and the wheat will separate from the chaff real quick.

If our national assembly is really working for the people, this is the time for them to really sit down and overhaul our high-handed INEC.
Legislate about cross carpeting, delivery of transparent and credible election, introduction of independent candidacy, making INEC to really be independent in terms of appointments of personnel, finance and everything.

I see us not having a sound national party after 2031 election because APC would have served it's purpose to the fullest by then. Except, we all agree that Nigeria becomes an extension of Bourdillion.

So, what really is our legislators doinghuh

.

Let us speak plainly: what is wrong with PDP is PDP.
They had it too easy competing against regional parties, as soon as they had to compete against another National party, their true empty nature showed.

PDP destroyed the Nigerian economy, looting as they went along yet foolish Nigerians kept voting them in.

There is nothing wrong with PDP, they had nothing to offer in the first place.

Nothing is wrong with PDP...

People just grossly underestimate Bola Ahmed Tinubu, even his supporters.

I am sure even Remi, his wife doesn't fully understand him.

People are putting the blame solely on Atiku... but who else can PDP turn to?

Bukola Saraki? Or who? Tinubu will flog all of them mercilessly.

Just wait patiently till 2031. Only God can remove Tinubu no one else.

Someone who mocked a sitting President for being a serial loser and crying.

Someone who flogged President + Vice President + Senate President + Party Chairman and CBN Governor COMBINED.... is a man to be feared.

Nigerian politicians thrive with money and on money. They can’t stay two years without power or align with power.

APC had Tinubu who had a vision to become the president one day and believed in his strategy thus he was ready to be funding the party.

PDP has no one with strong vision. Atiku himself doesn’t believe he can win elections so he can’t spend much for the party. Amaechi and Bukola Saraki can’t spend such money.

Wike as the one funding them and he’s now a rogue.

Thus, they have no stronghold on the leadership or who becomes the leader. They are not respected within the party. This and more is the reason you see the party eroding.

A gale is sweeping through Nigeria’s opposition — not the gale of power, but of desertion. And no party is bleeding faster than the People’s Democratic Party (PDP). Every day, a governor jumps ship. Every week, a senator waves goodbye. And every month, a former stakeholder becomes a latter-day critic.

Yet the PDP’s first instinct is to blame the weather.

“They are being bought,” they say. “They are being threatened.” But when your roof keeps leaking, the question is not about the rain. It’s about your roofing sheet.

Let us speak plainly: what is wrong with PDP is PDP.

It is not Bola Tinubu. It is not the APC. It is not gale, wind, thunder, or political harmattan. It is the simple fact that a party once described as the largest in Africa now behaves like a ship without a compass — and worse, without a captain.

Leadership is the first casualty. The PDP has not had a moral centre since Goodluck Jonathan conceded defeat. The party has drifted from one court case to another, with chairmen fighting like village kinsmen over a chieftaincy title — each faction more concerned with ownership than direction.

When history offered the PDP a golden moment — a chance to learn from its loss in 2015 and rebuild — it chose instead to pretend nothing happened. Like a man who wakes up in a burnt house and still searches for the TV remote.

By 2022, as the APC wrestled with fuel queues and Naira redesigns, the PDP had a golden opportunity to present a credible, united front. Instead, it stumbled into an ethnic war zone of its own making, mishandled zoning, insulted its Southern base, and handed the Labour Party an emotional advantage it never paid for.

And at the centre of this chaos is one man: Alhaji Atiku Abubakar — the perennial contestant, the familiar face on the wrong side of history. Atiku’s insistence on being the “last man standing” has become a bulldozer that crushes internal consensus. Rather than groom successors, he declares himself the only saviour left — like a prophet who refuses to leave the pulpit even as the congregation dwindles.

This is not ambition. It is addiction.

And now, the party groans. Governors leave, not because APC is perfect, but because PDP has lost its flavour. People do not eat saltless stew twice — no matter how nostalgic they are about the recipe.

What PDP needs now is not a press statement. It needs a mirror. It needs to look at its old mistakes: alienating the South, ignoring youth, mishandling internal democracy, running campaigns like inheritance.

Opposition is not a title. It is a discipline. It requires strategy, humility, and reformation. None of which PDP has shown since 2015.

So let the gale of defection blow. Let the rats flee. But when the house collapses completely, let no one blame the storm.

The termites were already inside.
Very soon they will be only be known as a group in either telegram or what's app...since they can't overcome their own selfish interest and greed

Tell us PDP alternative to 900 petrol and naira at 1600 without removing subsidy and float naira as promised by their candidates ATIKU and OBI?
These are questions we should be asking not all this emotion manipulation and gaslighting!
We know OBI's own,he had claimed he would devalue naira and start borrowing to defend it again .
What is Atiku alternative??
These are issues!
I’ll say this clearly: I am a Nigerian before I am anything else. Demanding better governance doesn’t make someone a partisan—it makes them conscious. We must stop gaslighting ourselves into silence while Nigeria slowly hemorrhages.

Fuel is N900. Dollar is N1600. Food prices are ridiculous. And what does government do? Cuts subsidy only for the masses—while its own bloated bureaucracy grows fatter.

If this country must heal, let’s start from the top:
• Cut the waste. Why do we need a platoon of special assistants, duplicated ministries like Police Affairs, Interior, and Defense? Merge them into one smart security ministry.
• Make legislature part-time. In 2024, how many impactful bills have been passed? If they’re not legislating, they shouldn’t be earning millions monthly.
• Turn government houses into revenue streams. Governors’ lodges in Asokoro shouldn’t sit empty. Put them on Airbnb or lease for diplomatic use. Generate income.
• Cap ministers at 12. This isn’t 1985. One efficient digital ministry can do what five paper-pushing ones can’t.
• Demand transparency. Every local government chairman and governor should be forced to submit a quarterly report detailing how public funds were spent—verified and made public.

This isn’t about PDP or APC. It’s about ending economic hypocrisy. You can’t keep squeezing the common man while shielding the elites from pain.

If we don’t de-bloat this beast we call government, we’ll soon be a nation with Gucci wearing governors and hungry citizens.

Demanding reform is patriotism. Defending failure is suicide.

Atiku's ambition is the problem of PDP.

The day Atiku stops seeing himself as the automatic flag bearer is the day APC will get into trouble.
If Atiku stops bid for Aso Rock today, APC is a goner by 2027.
If Atiku continues to bid for Aso Rock in 2027, it's another extension for APC beyond 2027. In any case, Atiku helped to form APC in 2015, and it's like he's still working for APC through his presidential bids in PDP.

The inordinate desire of Atiku to be the presidential flag bearer of the PDP every election year without regard for others within the PDP fold , has messed up the PDP . Again , PBAT is a focused and strong-willed politician that can't be easily defeated. So , what happens ? Many align with APC for survival and out of resentment for Atiku's greed

there is nothing to steal anymore and those who are left dont have access to stealing public funds,

Re: Gale Of Defection: What Really Is Wrong With The PDP? by AerialMapper: 7:44am On May 17, 2025
Are you sure it is about the party? It is about the Politicians and their quest for power and right now power resides with APC.

We know how hard it is to wrestle power from an incumbent party especially one with greedy power -hungry corrupt leadership; impossible.

So to stay in power or get position, it is far easier to defect than to build an opposition!

Look at Delta State, PDP Governmor who needs a second term. Power hungry grabbers in the ruling party, Omo-Agege and Keyamo loitering and positioning themselves. What do you do? Risk it and go against "Federal Might" or roll over, bend over with a generous amount of baby oil and submit yourself to the ruling party. This is replicated across the PDP, politicians making strategic defections to stay in power or prevent an investigation into their tenure when they are out of power.

So why the gale of defections? CORRUPTION
