They used to be, but not now. In labour, like wheelbarrow pushing, the Hausa/Fulani charges the most, followed by Igbos, and the considerable Benue/Tiv people.

Additionally, the Hausa/Fulani have become the least industrious group in Nigeria today. The tribes from the Middle Belt are now recognized as the most hardworking when it comes to menial jobs."

There are so many indigenes from Lagos state working in the factory. Go and find out.

I don't see anything wrong bringing those boys, except they're found to be security risk.
All of them should be from the state the factory is cited...what special jobs are those abokis coming to do that they can't get lagosians or even abokis already in Lagos to do?

This is a security threat.

When Lagos starts to burn we know who brought it upon them. I've admired Dangote since forever even though I know I may never see him physically but bringing such number of questionable workforce? to Lagos where there are more than willing numbers of job seekers all the way from the state where bandits are thriving and they don't look any different from these zombies, it's call for serious scrutiny in my opinion.
Re: NLC Threatens Showdown Over 89 Labourers At Dangote Refinery by shotuns: 1:48pm On May 17, 2025
From their looks, it is obvious those guys aren't just unskilled workers but bandits, recent reports have shown that Dangote trucks were and are used to transport them into the south all the time. They are all threats to southern security.

It's just tribalism. Where the northerners to mete same treatment to these tribalists, they'll have inundated the whole media space with their balderdash. NLC Lagos is a disgrace!
Re: NLC Threatens Showdown Over 89 Labourers At Dangote Refinery by Bimow: 1:53pm On May 17, 2025
It's a big scam, Dangote took over their farm lands (The Refinery land is like a city), denied them the local jobs by bringing his Katsina people, he also denied their educated youths with wicked Indians who enslaved Nigerians.

It's also a big security risk to Lagos State and Lekki Area.

NLC should stop this nonsense.

The Constitution, which overrides any labour law, says there is freedom of movement for any Nigerian within Nigeria and also the freedom of any Nigerian to work in any place within Nigeria.

Do you think Dangote cannot build the refinery in kano or katsina. Now you want to frustrate him on every move

NLC should stop sounding like the MURIC professor who uses religious sentiments to talk nonsense. I'm sure the agberos in Lagos are too lazy to work as labourers in Dangote refinery hence the reason why Dangote brought in his brothers for employment. Those northern guys are very hardworking and sincere.

Nonsense
You dey craze

Do you think Dangote will pay the necessary benefit in the event that their is hazard or loss of life.

This and many reason foreigners will come into this country set up multinationals and pay you people peanuts and crumbs even threaten you people. black man no get sense

Sorry ma’am, I beg to differ!
I live in Lagos and I can tell you that those guys don’t look back when given certain tasks that those of us down south would never ever undertake notwithstanding the amount involved!

SO NLC HAS THIS LEVEL OF INTERVENTION AS LABOUR LAW IS CONCERN AND THEY LEAVE HUNDREN OF NIGERIA YOUTH LANGUISHING IN CASUAL SLAVERY IN NNPCL. OR IS JUST FIGHTING FOR PERSONAL INTEREST
Re: NLC Threatens Showdown Over 89 Labourers At Dangote Refinery by ALLNIGERIANSMAD(m): 4:05pm On May 17, 2025
This is the reason why nonsense happening in North can never happen in SW, people will raise alarm or even attack terrorists first

shortgun:
Those of us in the real sector of the economy know that there are certain jobs only northern youths can do effectively, jobs that youths in Lagos State would struggle with or see as condescending.
I believe that before recruiting those boys from the northern part of the country, the managers of the refinery must have been frustrated by the labourers of Lagos.
There are already millions of abokis in Lagos just roaming around, why not select from these.

One they are Nigerians and they are most probably labourers to cut grass which a lot of Southerners don’t do.

Where in the constitution was that stated? The last time I checked It is freedom of movement and not freedom to bring in mass labourers from another state...not the same thing.

It is the same you that will be crying Lagos is no longer secured when an Islamic fanatic decide to arm these boys with sophisticated weapons. "We will deep the Quran into the Atlantic ocean" comes to mind, maybe it is about to go down....they are just testing the microphone.
Read the constitution and then you will know.
Re: NLC Threatens Showdown Over 89 Labourers At Dangote Refinery by abbeytech1: 4:48pm On May 17, 2025
What people don't understand is that there are kind of labourers you can't get locally except from North. For example, can you gets population of 100 labourers in Lagos to clear the grasses in Dangote Refinery, but you can gets multiple numbers in North that can do the work. We can't blame Dangote on this, whereas, Dangote might not even aware of where the labourers are coming from because the facility is bigger than what only Dangote can control, there are many managements with their specific roles.

Yes Dangote should employ indigenous people...it is a grave security risk, and reeks of nepotism to be importing workers from North... what is the rationale behind it?

Also, Location must enjoy job opportunities, the state you cite your business where you are earning from should benefit employment opportunities for its residents from you not bringing in people from other regions.

Labour is very correct on this, it is against good sense.
grin grin grin

This is xenophobic talk shocked

Why discriminate against fellow Africans from the same country as you?

Do you say the same about the Lebanese and Indians enslaving you in Lagos factories ?

Nonsense grin grin
