Topic was always going to get derailed! Fyi - the term Roman Catholic was made up by Anglicans after the Reformation. the Church has always referred to itself simply as the Catholic Church which includes over 20 Eastern Catholic Churches in full communion with Rome.

The real historical split was between East and West( the Great Schism) dividing the Latin Church and the Eastern Orthodox Churches.

Most chruches around the Western worlds and most of African minus Egypt and Ethiopian/ Nile axis have very different doctrine. One major division is the nature of the sonship of Christ with the Holy Spirit called Filioque...
