So which of them should we be advised to put in our homes? Is it earthing systems or thunder arrestor?

Earthing systems handles everyday electrical faults, trapping currents to the ground to prevent shocks especially when we are barefooted. Thunder arrestors on the other hand specifically protect against lightning-induced surges. Usually at the top of buildings, mostly high buildings with high chances of getting stricken by thunder.

Ideally . . both. Though most homes have earth wires only,already channeled to the ground. But lots of buildings here don't have thunder arrestors because they are expensive. Commercial buildings like banks can't afford not to because of their valuable equipments.
