There was a Country. Glad I enjoyed a little bit of it before I japa. There has never been a power failure for 5 minutes in decades where I live.

Be honest and sincere before you cast your next vote. If you don’t gerrit, then forget about it.

Rubbish.
The problem is rhe people not the system.
The system doesn't fit the people.

So the problem is both the system and the people.

It's like trying to force a ball into a triangular hole.

Parliamentary system of Government should be returned to or lets just try making regions autonomous.

Let every region decide their future!

do you need anyone to tell you who you should use your vote to install as president?

how often do you read the constitution?

have you ever read the constitution?

read the constitution and use its provisions as the standard for casting your vote then you will know how to cast your vote

It was Regional Autonomy that worked for Nigeria
The current system is even OK

It is Economic improvement that is needed

who is stopping the 36 states and the FCT from deciding their future?

will parliamentary system of government make your politicians to become saints overnight?

Nigeria's democracy has failed only because of our electoral system has failed.

If the people's vote doesn't count democracy is hollow and ineffective.

he has been jumping from one station saying the same thing. I generally agree with him but i stopped listening to him when he said we should include traditional rulers and gave the example of the British Monarchy.

1: you see our traditional rulers ....well let me not comment!
2: every system that has failed was copied and now he is advocating copying another foreign system
3: When every room you enter smells, the problem is not the rooms but you. No matter the system, so long as we are Nigerians ....same wahala. what we need is a national reorientation!

the rejected secession clause, they staged the 1st coup, they promulgated unification decree 34 which abolished regional govt in all but name and referendum they shout about today!

"In 1966, the "unification decree," Decree No. 34, effectively abolished the federal system of government in Nigeria and established a unitary system, which removed the need for referendums, according to the Council on Foreign Relations. This decree was promulgated by General Johnson Aguiyi-Ironsi, Nigeria's first military head of state. The decree aimed to discourage "tribal loyalties and activities".

The people that abolished regionalism are the ones shouting regionalism, the people that aborted parliarmentary system are the ones shouting presidential system is too expensive or it doesnt work.

what all of you are fighting for now is what Awo fought for but you opposed

"On October 1, 1975, there was a ray of hope on the issue when General Ramat Murtala Muhammed (1938-1976) announced in a broadcast that he would hand over power in 1979. And true to his words he set up a 50-man constitution drafting committee under the leadership of Chief Rotimi Frederick Alade Williams.

A member of the committee, Chief Obafemi Awolowo, GCFR opted not to serve in the committee insisting that having written and participated in the making of past Nigerian constitutions, there was no more to add."
in other words there was nothing wrong with the parliarmentary system.

Democracy is actually very expensive. Imagine spending billions of naira just to rig, sorry conduct election to retain the same 1960s leaders, and servicing two NASS with billions of naira within every tenure. Meanwhile, these monies could have go for other infrastructural projects if we were practicing another type of government.

So first of all, it wasn't an Igbo coup since people of other tribes joined in as well.
The issue we are having is hyper corruption, religious fanatics and greedy criminals who kidnap and rob.
Our corruption is because we gave too much power to politicians which place a huge wealth gap creating high level of poverty.
Nigeria went through multiple coups not just one.
We are hyper religious to the level of seeing humans as nothing but entities. Ritual killings, boko, etc.
The increased crime rate has nothing to do with igbos since poverty is all over the nation. Crime rate works close to poverty.

Apart from corruption and fraudulent practices that permeate Nigeria fabrics, our state governors are another major problem, most of them has turned their respective states to their personal empires, they are collecting monthly allocations what are they doing with they do one or two projects, they hardly pay their workers what is due them.

They don't allow any independence for local government, they make sure it is there stooges that were appointed local council
chairmen.

No the 36 States are not regions

They are not Autonomous because they cannot have their own embassy as the Western Region had it's own embassy in UK after independence

Each Region would concentrate on their own Economic strengths and mine their own resources they will only pay taxes on it to FG

1. what is a region and how are the 36 states and the FCT not regions?

2. how is a region having embassy the criteria for being autonomous?

3. oga, how can western region have an embassy in the UK when it was a part of the federal of republic of nigeria?

4. what portion of the 1960 independence constitution gave the western region the powers to have direct diplomatic relations with countries?

5. if you claim that the western region had an embassy n the UK, what about the northern and eastern regions?

6. did the western region have an embassy in the UK before 1960?

7. if it didnt, why?

8. are you saying that all the 36 states in nigeria dont have economic strengths they can focus on?

No, it won't. In fact, things would be worse.
So what do you propose then? Is it not glaring that this present rubbish system is not working even to the blind? Perhaps, you did r read the text but he stated it there that he doesn't have all the answers and so do I but there definitely have to be a systemic change in Nigerias governance style cos it's presently heading for doom.
