ChybuzzDD:So a kidnap case has to have happened in that locality. He couldn't have kidnapped the children from elsewhere and is trying to escape? You missed where he attempted to kill officers where he ran his car into their vehicles? I have even agreed that shooting at the car was careless and wrong. But you see that chasing him down, that was the only option. Do you know the car might have been Carriing explosives? |

nairavsdollars:The surviving twin brother will never forgive him. The mother of the children will never forgive him. His own conscience will continue to judge him. Such careless and irresponsible behaviour even in the presence of the children |

Mynd44:You talk about the suspect as if every traffic violator is a terrorist or armed robber, that’s pure fear mongering. Not every person going against traffic is a bloodthirsty criminal. Sometimes they’re reckless, sometimes panicked, sometimes just stupid. But law enforcement has a duty to assess, de-escalate, and act proportionately, not to turn public roads into action movie sets where missed bullets and flipped cars are “acceptable risks.” Claiming that officers shouldn't be held accountable because the suspect "started it" is the kind of logic that excuses brutality and systemic abuse. The fact that someone broke the law doesn't mean the police are suddenly above it. And the kicker? You admit the method of stopping the vehicle was dangerous, then still go on to defend the officers and the system that enables this recklessness. You can't have it both ways. If law enforcement actions risk more harm than the suspect's behavior, then they are part of the problem, not the solution. |

There were about 6 traffic officers trying to stop him as seen in the video. Just 2 korofo army officers would have stopped him. Why is it like that ? Discuss. |

olatade:Another person who hasn't seen the video. The suspect try to run over police officers. This is someone who they told to stop and ignored, he was cornered, he rammed into police vehicles and drove off. Asking officers to take his number and trace his is just silly. He has showed dangerous and even murderous behavior, the chase was inevitable. The officer who shot at the tires was unprofessional and needs to be sanctioned. But the primary person at fault, the lunatic who decided to run over police officers whith 2 of his kids in the back seat |

EddyNumerouno:What is worse is that in trying to run away he has included damages to his vehicle that will cost more than 5 times the N50,000 fine. Just stupidity and reckless bravado |

The Death of that boy is on the police. They have been trying a dumb narrative to blame the dad with their social media talks but their archaic rules of engagement needs intelligent personnel and equipment. So because they couldn't weelay him, shooting so early was the next thing? And they're trying hard to paint that picture since yesterday for a 14yo teenager? They're heartless and insane and evil. All of them on that van should be relieved for ever. The father should be prosecuted for breaking the traffic laws too. |

Mynd44:What are you saying? You place a B.O.L.O on such vehicles why do they have so much road blocks on the way if they cannot intercept suspected vehicles |

I wonder why it is difficult to call a spade a spade in this part of the universe. Yes, the father of the boy committed a traffic infraction which there are better ways of resolving. Now, in an attempt to stop the fleeing offender, a 'trainned' police officer opened fire and killed an innocent boy which he swore to protect and a 'sane' man up there is trying to justify the killing by shifting blame on the father. Two things are involved here; 1) The man committed a lesser crime which is civil crime. 2) The Police officer commited a capital offence which is murder. As an officer, you're trained to protect even at the face of provocation. Both of them have a case to answer in the court of law. Go to X (Twitter) and see how people were raining curses on the handler of Oyoaffairs who posted the video of the incident, trying to shift blame on the father. If it happened to your son, would you be shifting blame? We should learn to call a spade a spade even when it is your fault. |

rainluv:These things are connected and correlated, as the NGF is the same all over the country If they believe their crimes are celebrated and defended in the SW, they'll be encouraged to replicate same in the SE and other regions. So, we shouldn't keep quiet and allow them go scot-free irrespective of where they commit their crimes |

Mynd44:If the car was filled with explosives, won't shooting the vehicle trigger the explosives? |

Can we said the Father contributed 80% to the innocent death of the Son driving through ONE WAY ROAD 🛣️ in Ibadan yesterday ![]() Having said that, the Oyo State Police command did not disclose the name of the police that put the trigger against expectations. Traffic offences is a regular thing by Nigerians and it's quite unfortunate for this reckless behaviour. This is a lesson for all. |

nairashopping:The father killed the boy... Nothing more.. Nigeria doesn't respect innovations... We are just faking it.. chanting A.I up and down... We are rich with vast lands and resources.... But very dumb upstairs..., Many obsoletes instrumental still used to carry out day to day operations in all the sectors in Nigeria... Even Africa as a continent... I will also advise Nigeria Police to train their personnel on how to Aim correctly before shooting.... You see there are courses for all this things.. and get them certified... You don't shoot with emotions... You shoot with coordination... With clear sight view.. Almost all Nigeria paramilitary with Firearms shoot with emotions... Either under influence of alcohol or anger... So let them train all firearms carriers... How to aim to shoot... |

Mynd44:Pardon my language..this is crap you wrote. Normal standard procedure when faced with such a scenario is to capture the vehicle number plates and also video evidence of the violation..you let the vehicle go. You de-escalate the tension. In saner climes, that's what they do if they see you're too aggressive. They allow you go. It's better to allow you go than risk the death of an innocent person. That just happened in Ibadan. The way our enforcement officials work..it reminds me of jungle.imagine surrounding the vehicle with dozens of enforcement officials, shouting and acting all barbaric all in a bid to arrest and demand hefty bribe..such a driver already facing such prospects would do more harm in his frenzied state.. Lagos State LASTMA/VIO can never do such.. They will capture your vehicle details and fine you appropriately. If you were aggressive on the road, home arrest few days later when tension has been doused. That's how it's done. We need to start working intelligently not like cavemen. Unfortunately a promising young lad was killed by the NPF cos of anticipated bribe. |

nairavsdollars:The police opening fire on vehicle with unknown occupants is the height of irresponsibility. Even if they were aiming for the tire, what do they think would be the effect of a blown out tire on vehicle accelerating on high velocity. it is a shame that we have such an undertrained, unproffessional and incompetent instutition policing the country. |
| Re: Kehinde Alade: Law Enforcement Agencies Should Do Better by IyfeNamikaze(m): 11:50am On May 21, 2025 |
Mynd44:What sort of excuse is that? So the police are allowed to open fire based on assumptions without any probable cause? So let's assume it was a kidnapping, are the police even supposed to shoot at the vehicle in that situation knowing fully well that there is a kidnap victim inside? What you're saying does not even make sense at all. |

femi4:He portrait himself as an armed robber or a kidnapper. Driving fast against traffic, almost threw down Police Officer from bridge, ram into Police vehicles, destroy barricade, who does that? Even after shooting the boy, he continued, he said he didn't know the boy was dead. |

nairavsdollars:So the windscreen and the rare screen were both tinted abi? The evil some of una dey support for this country,I sincerely pray it doesn't happen to any of una or una close families before una go realise say evil is evil. So let's even say the car and everything was tinted, the best thing to do was to open fire even when there was no shot fired from the erring driver abi? Does that even sound professional to you at all? |

Emeskhalifa:Agreed. There's even a part in the video where the OYRTMA officers opened the door to the Driver's side. They can't say they did not see the kids inside. |
