(1). Firstly your younger sister is not a minor at age 15 therefore she is qualified to be interview by the consular .

** Consular officer will be interested and curious to test her (briefly ) abilities based on the award she has won and if she proves herself her visa is 100% guaranteed on the basis of the genuine existence and accreditation of the awarding organisation in the U.S.

(2). Your dad is not suposed to be the principal person that will chaperone her to the occasion, her class teacher , head of school , the organisation facilitator in Nigeria, etc is supposed to but if the competition was registered for outside her school knowledge then you may proceed with your plan,

(3). The organization strong - invitation letter does not have to be addressed to the embassy and it is not a guarantee for visa no matter how strong the letter is.

** The organisation's accreditation to hold such event and the girls ability to defend her merit award , as well as the organisation 's background checks (by the U.S embassy) will determine the visa outcome.

(4). She is 100% qualified for an emergency appointment ( under business) if you process it effectively.

(5). She must fill her individual ds 160 and your dad will fill his own ds 160 individually that is two separate ds 160s but one avits profile.

(6). No matter how strong the invitation letter is, it is not an automatic success. The tip on number 3 above will determine her visa. Yes she will be questioned academically by the consular based on her IQ level. The consular will know within minutes of her communication if she truly won the merit even after the official verification of everything.

Note: Your kid sister herself must prove her worth to the consular because the natural thought of the consular is that she (your sister) can be favoured as a result of a wealthy parents while the true outstanding students were left out. Good LucK 👍

He will need to book for a physical interview at the embassy. i received the same for my IW and was later approved, they wanted to clarify something. But bare in mind that if he overstayed(3months and above) on his last visit, the likelihood of them refusing him again is high.

@Cashmadam has given you a good tips. I will add by suggesting you go to OIS and register for premium (paid) delivery immediately after the Girls' visa approval.

More importantly. Visa officer is going to drill the girl on her academic abilities which have placed her above her peers in winning the competition. Start doing your homework (academic/communication practice) with the girl. 👍

How were you eventually approved since you received same letter? because that letter said the applicant's documents have been returned. Did they return yours too ? Did you pay another visa fee ? How did you find yourself back to the embassy? Automatic reschedule appointment? Pls clarify for the good of the public. 👍

Yes, you will need to pick up the passport then rebook an appointment, no you won't have to pay for another visa fee. The appointment is not automatic.

Although someone mentioned that his status showed refused/ it later showed administrative processing/ then changed to visa approved and didn't have to reappear for an interview. i guess he didn't have to pick up his document.

You are mixing up information. Don't instruct or teach me or the public what to do. Tell us what and what you did when you received that same letter?

Besides, that letter even seems to be an old letter related to previous CGI page. My argument is that tell us what you did if you are absolutely sure you received that same letter otherwise your answer is a generalisation. 👍

VO only mentioned he was going to reach out to me when required. This morning, after a long wait, I received an email asking me to fill out a new DS-160 and come in for a re-interview, with date and time provided. Any tips on what to expect ? I understand 221g/admin processing is not uncommon but having to fill out a new DS-160 for a re-interview is kind of new to me. Any comments/expereience will be appreciated.

Hello Alex.
Your friend's dad submitted (or gambled) renewal application as a qualified IW applicant when he naturally did not qualified.

He is likely going to start afresh by submitting a new ds-160 , pay another visa fee, and apply as a normal visa applicant (physical appearance). 👍

I assume you attended secondary school or did you stop your education in primary school?

Its not just a yes/no question. You'll proceed to input details of the school.
The agent insists it is University and I have filled the details.
I just want to be sure its the correct thing so I dont get disqualified for something so little.

For me I don’t fill in secondary school details. I put university details, law school and masters degree.
If you filled university details I’d say you’re good to go
