Lol. Your arguments are usually funny to me. You are the type that argues that white is black even when you see it clearly that it is white.
You are saying Ghana is a bigger fintech player than a country that hosts the likes of Flutterwave, Opay, Paga, Palmpay, Moniepoint, etc.
Only Kenyan Mpesa (which is a monopoly) can rub shoulders with any of these.
Stop smoking early in the morning 🤣
I do not need to attack you personally, I observed you are decorum with your choice of words therefore no need to attack your personality even if you fumble this time .

Straight to the point , there are many fintech payment in GH. From the likes of Ghanapay , zeepay, kowri , expreespay etc and many options I can't remember for now.. I am aware Ghana has about 200 company in the fintech landscape. Ranging from digital credit entities to remittances and transfer platforms.

Though based on volume of transactions, Nigeria might have an edge due to population. But we are taking about a 30 million population doing about 200 billion dollar volume transactions that is about 3.1 trillion GHC

MTN is a monopoly in Ghana especially with the mobile payment there which worked. They couldn’t dominate with mobile payments in Nigeria amongst the middle class and rich because the middle class/ rich already had several fintech options. MTN have also been closely matched by Airtel and Glo all through their history in Nigeria and are now more closely marked by Airtel.
they dominated the market with great service provision

Even at that , it is not a completely monopolize market like it happens in some other countries.

Close to two hundred thousand Ghanaian owns a share with MTN.

Will the cedis fall anytime soon? Well, with this new policy, if all hands are on deck, I don't see it happening now.

A dollar may be traded for 5 cedis soon

Banks to Hold Reserves in Original Deposit Currencies from June” means that starting in June 2025, banks will be required to keep a portion of their reserves in the same currency in which the deposits were originally made"(Bank of Ghana).

Currently, When banks receive deposits in foreign currencies (like the dollar and Euro), they might convert some of those into the local currency (e.g., Ghanaian cedi) for reserve or regulatory purposes. But the new rule is if a customer deposits dollars, the bank must hold a portion of that reserve in dollars— not cedis or any other currency.

The benefits of this policy's is too numerous for the economy stability.
