lexy2014:Lol I don't have any excuse I'm just telling you selling to the neighboring countries will give more gain to most marketers due to the exchange rate... Unless Dangote Flood doz Market directly himself the smuggling will be useless... |

It's bad, but the good news is, we are no longer doing it on the government's dime. We are no longer throwing money into a bottomless pit or having people lie to get more subsidy money. We should have removed subsidy since 1993, folks. We are doing the work we should have done ages ago. At least karma came to bite the ojota organisers in the back. Still, at the end, subsidy had to go. We was running on empty paying for at least 6 or eight african countries' fuel |

At least they are not benefiting from subsidy |

I don’t understand. Why should we be bothered about smuggling if subsidy has been eradicated. If Dangote produces PMS at a price that is less than international market and he’s making profit what is wrong in Benin republic buying from him? The issue with smuggling was when subsidy was being paid so FG was paying money and people were shipping to neighboring countries at the expense of FG. Which was still done by big men in power. How is this an issue today? |

lexy2014:at least if the givt tax it and smugglers pay the tax indirectly, the govt can have more funds to work with while West Africa carries most of the burden. Oppose with sense. |

DAILY POST recalls that the Adamawa/Taraba Area Command of the NCS had only on Wednesday, May 21, 2025 announced confiscation of over 36,000 litres of petrol allegedly being moved out of Adamawa and Taraba States towards Cameroon.how many litres is a tanker? is this all that NCS seized that they are saying is the evidence of smuggling caused by price of fuel in nigeria? |

inoki247:same thing we are saying. another excuse. was low price of fuel occasioned by fuel subsidy not the reason for the smuggling? now that the fuel subsidy has been removed, why did it not stop smuggling? are the smugglers ghosts? how are they carrying so much product to sustain the Benin republic economy that no one is seeing them? |

No, the current price of the naira against CFA ( currency used in all the neighbouring country with Nigeria make it more attractive. It is too cheap to buy Nigeria fuel with CFA now The naira is now becoming very useless.. |

aribisala0:It is an avenue Dangote really needs to look at. However, i suspect governments across West Africa may in place very high tax rate of pump price and that makes it still way higher than the average price in Nigeria and why the smuggling is still attractive. |

There's no strong law to prevent it. DSS and EFCC should be involved in the fight against smugglers and their collaborators in Customs! |

Subsidy has been removed abi So those should increase the price again If some people want to use illegal channel to sell their produce to neighbouring countries, is that why they should say petrol is cheaper in nigeria tinubu should go sabotage neighbouring countries economy so that their currency will become useless like naira Evill nigeria |
| Re: Price Of Nigerian Petrol Makes Smuggling Into Neigboring Countries Attractive by Socratiz: 6:19pm On May 24, 2025 |
I don't see how the smuggling of petrol can stop because if it's sold for N1500 per litre in Nigeria, smugglers can always sell it higher in neighbouring countries and make their profit. Higher price in Nigeria will only reduce the number of smugglers because of the heavy capital it requires to do the illegal trade. |
