For people wanting to know about timeline My people applied April 24, using the old gckey portal and they got a response today even though it is refusal but it took 1 month for IRCC to process their application, so like someone said IRCC is treating applications just that refusal rate is high reason people haven't really been sharing their timelines as such Reason for refusal insufficient asset and financial situation Purpose of visit not consistent with temporary stay |
| Re: Canada Visit/tourist Visa Discussion. by clayfounder: 7:50am On May 25, 2025 |
Towerofgrace:IRCC is rejecting applications at a very high rate. Even an agent confirmed that Canada has become a tough market for visit visa applications. Out of 22 applications he processed this year, only 3 were approved,2 applicants over 59 years old and 1 with UK and US visas. The rest were rejected, and 5 people were even banned, though the agent hasn’t informed them yet. This same agent had over 50 successful visa approvals in 2022/2023, which shows just how much things have changed |

Hello good people, please I need help with uploading additional documents that were requested by IRCC. I have uploaded the documents and status shows submitted but I have not received any email confirmation. |

Bae2025:No worries if the status shows 'submitted,' it's okay. Confirmation alert can sometimes be delayed. |

Thank you for sharing and sorry about the refusal. Any travel history for your people or this was a first time application? Safe to say they are treating April applications now. The processing time has certainly reduced. Towerofgrace: |

Good morning everyone, pls I got 3 years visiting visa January last year. The whole application stuff was done by an agent. Infact at the beginning the agent told me it was a work permit visa after I have committed a huge amount of money and months has past he now said the work visa is no longer available. He now got me a vv with a conference story. Every thing was handed to me on the day of traveling. When I got to hearthrow airport in UK, I was turned back because that day was the last day of the said conference which the agent edited without my knowledge. Good a thing my Visa was not cancelled. Where I need help is, I don't want that visa wasted, I am thinking of entering Canada to spend few days and return back. But my problem is that I don't have any invite to go there? What do I do? Should I look for another conference or what? Pls, gurus in the house help me my people. Thanks in advance. |

Hello, I just received my Original Passport Request. I have two questions: - Do I need to book an appointment with VFS for passport submission? - How long does it take for the passport to be returned after submission? Will appreciate responses please. |
| Re: Canada Visit/tourist Visa Discussion. by oluayebenz: 7:54am On May 26, 2025 |
RyRyan:You do not need appointment to submit your passport. Takes between 3 - 7 days Congrats |
| Re: Canada Visit/tourist Visa Discussion. by oluayebenz: 7:57am On May 26, 2025 |
Myjoyishere:Alright if you are so sure Then I won't advice you to travel for now, wait till next year and also make sure to get a conference that's related to your profession. Don't try to use it for just visiting o |

oluayebenz:Ok thanks, but it's over a year I made that move. |
| Re: Canada Visit/tourist Visa Discussion. by Towerofgrace: 9:21am On May 26, 2025 |
LadyCaplin:Yes, processing time has reduced and they have UK, UAE and SA travel history, though all expired visas. |
| Re: Canada Visit/tourist Visa Discussion. by Towerofgrace: 9:23am On May 26, 2025 |
clayfounder:This is serious 3 out of 50, safe to say majority traveling to Canada now are those with existing visas and just few new ones. It is well |

Towerofgrace:Exactly. Getting their ten year visa or less na first step oh. Even with my US visa, and two other major visas, E remain small make Montreal people send me back to home. This is me, high income earner, lives abroad oh not even Nigeria, with money in debit card and enough credit cards. Return ticket, everything arranged and clear itinerary. Still, as soon as I brandished that Nigerian passport bayi, the lady first of all waved me to another man. That one asked me what I am coming for, he waved me to the inner room where I could see my fellow black brothers and sisters. By the time I left there let’s just say more brothers and sisters, all immigrants had joined me there. That hall was full. I wanted to swear for the person here in Nairaland that said Montreal was easy. They are nice naa but the rigorous questioning I faced ehn, I missed my connection flight. Again that is after I narrowly missed being sent back home niyen oh. Long story short, getting visa is now hard. And for those who manage to get it, the battle never end oh. They are now very deeply suspicious of Nigerians and asylum and will not hesitate to show it. Their default belief is you are coming to claim asylum. |

Amylew:So bad. So so so bad. I was also denied last month despite not applying from Nigeria and having multiple Schengen visas in my passport. I really pity Nigerians and the irreparable damage they have done to genuine travellers especially the aduro eaters. |

Bae2025:Still not submitted.. After uploading you need to resubmit the application just like you did the first time otherwise IRCC will not receive it |
| Re: Canada Visit/tourist Visa Discussion. by orjohn24: 11:17pm On May 26, 2025 |
Bae2025:The document is submitted and it could take a week to confirm it receieved and if in doubt call ircc directly to confirm status of ur document. |

Myjoyishere:Don't book any conference; you don't need it. Since your visa is still valid, all you have to do is book hotel for the duration of your stay and travel. I advise you to avoid traveling via the UK on your next trip. |
| Re: Canada Visit/tourist Visa Discussion. by amnotapervert(m): 5:57am On May 27, 2025*. Modified: 6:15am On May 27, 2025 |
Myjoyishere:You are very lucky — very, very lucky. You should thank God you weren’t given a 5-year ban. I personally know people who have been affected by fake visa agents and the damage they can cause. Side Note (which may be unpopular): Even though your visa was approved, once you are settled in Canada, I strongly advise you to request your Global Case Management System (GCMS) notes. This will show you exactly what the Facebook visa agent submitted on your behalf. It's important because your visa will eventually expire, and you might need to apply again or answer questions at your point of entry into Canada. This way, you can verify whether the agent claimed you are married or single, the school(s) you attended or didn’t attend, and the business you supposedly do or don’t do. If there are discrepancies, you’ll be aware and better prepared in the future. Important Caution: I can't say for certain that your visa has been canceled, but it's possible that it has been flagged, and you may be asked additional questions by CBSA (Canada Border Services Agency) when you arrive at your Port of Entry (POE). How do I know? The UK or any government is required to share passenger manifests with the Canadian government — even for people who missed their flights, as long as they had a ticket. Since 2002, commercial air carriers have been required to provide the CBSA with Advance Passenger Information (API) and, since 2003, Passenger Name Record (PNR) data. This includes a traveler’s biographic details. You can read more about this here: https://gazette.gc.ca/rp-pr/p2/2016/2016-03-23/html/sor-dors35-eng.html So if you missed a flight denied boarding due to concerns about your purpose of visit ( yes UK is crazy to Nigerian because of that you are not alone) or there are inconsistencies in your visa application, the CBSA may ask you why — and they are trained to detect inconsistencies. If you didn’t fill out the application yourself or if your story isn’t genuine, they will most likely find out. Please get your GCMS notes so you know exactly what was submitted on your behalf and pray you meet a "nice" CBSA Agent And in the future, always go through a Canadian-registered and recognized immigration consultant or, even better, complete the visa process yourself — but first, make sure you know exactly what the agent submitted for you. Thanks.

Hello House. Application submitted: March 21 Biometrics: March 28 Original Passport request: May 1 Passport submission: May 22 Pickup request: May 26 I have a valid US visa and travel history as well. Please I want to use this visa to give birth and I have never been to Canada before. Do I need to send them a letter of intent or do I just show up at the POE? Your advise is needed please. |
| Re: Canada Visit/tourist Visa Discussion. by Debbieeeeeee: 4:09pm On May 27, 2025 |
Mamaiyanu:Canada doesn’t do change of intent. You want make dem wait you for border ready to return you back because what’s the whole essence of this change of intent letter that has put people in trouble and it’s even one of the many reasons why they’re refusing moms in the USA embassy now. Just go and go correct when I mean go correct carry enough money and evidence of doctor that you’ve done your research and established communication with doctors office, billing estimate , go with these documents in case you’re asked because you may be asked and you may not be. Good luck |
| Re: Canada Visit/tourist Visa Discussion. by orjohn24: 5:54pm On May 27, 2025 |
Mamaiyanu:Pls no send any letter of intent or u risk losing ur visa ..just show up as a visitor visa holder and hold enough money and arrange a doctor ahead. |

Please does anyone know how I can reach VFS Abuja? They are not taking calls on their official line. I paid for the courier service for passport delivery since last week and I have not heard from them. |

Hello good people, Please, I need your assistance. I am currently in Canada under refugee status and living with my partner, who is a Canadian citizen. We have a baby together, and we are planning to get married in November. My fiancée would like my mother to attend the wedding, which we plan to celebrate in a big way. She has already written an invitation letter stating that she will provide accommodation and cover any financial needs during my mother’s stay in Canada. My question is: Is it necessary for me to include my own pay stubs and bank statements in the application, even though my fiancée is the one providing all the required documents and financial support? |
| Re: Canada Visit/tourist Visa Discussion. by amnotapervert(m): 5:16am On May 28, 2025 |
Manover123:Even if she is the main sponsor, adding your own documents could strengthen the application by showing that: You have stable ties in Canada (especially since you live together and have a baby) There is additional financial support if needed However, it's optional and not mandatory Immigration officers assess the overall picture, and your fiancée’s documents may be sufficient on their own, especially if she has a strong financial profile and in this case she does. Make sure your mother also includes strong documentation to prove: Her intent to return home (ties to her home country, e.g., job, property, family) She is visiting for a specific event (your wedding) and plans to leave afterward Side note One more thing to remember: your wife technically has a financial obligation to support you for three years from the day you become a permanent resident. She is the main applicant, and during those three years, you do not have the right to sponsor or invite your family members. Any invitations for your family will need to come from your wife. https://ircc.canada.ca/english/helpcentre/answer.asp?qnum=1355&top=14
