Yam Planting in sacks
"Wow! I'm super excited to share my backyard yam garden story!
Planting yams in sacks has been a wonderful experience,still ongoing. It gives joy seeing the growth per day before your korokoro eyes.
It is easy to maintain and space-efficient as it requires little space to place your sacks,you can do it too.

Tips for Planting Yams in Sacks:
1. Choose healthy yam tubers.
2. Use well-draining soil mix.
3. Provide adequate sunlight.
4. Water regularly.

Place them beside the wall, so they can creep up the wall

Please after cutting the yams what do you rub on it

What quantity of fertilizer did you apply and at how many weeks/months after planting?

Kudos and bountiful harvest I pray. Did you fill the sack yourself? I filled just five today and I am feeling it right now . Though I had to pack the sand from somewhere, mix with compost manure and then lift to place in a High Place.

Imagine if all those sacks grew that amount of yams. Bountiful!

I used to be indifferent about yams, until they became scarce and expensive, now I appreciate them more.

Moral of the story: the less available you are, the more you're valued. 🥺

This a kind of experimental project as this is my first time planting them in sacks.
I added animal dung for some,some were plain sand while others were sieved sand without manure.
Trying them all to see the best way to go.

Filling and taking them to the place is the main thing.
Did it all myself with my family, lifting to place was aided by a wheelbarrow.

I wasn't a fan of yam before now,I stumbled on a page that plant them in sacks and boom I am giving it a trial.
I pray it works.

These yams in sacks are amazingly doing well 😁
This morning visit...
I have around 90% sprouts and stead growth from the sieved sand.

They are in three segments:
Sieved sand
Plain sand
Manure mixed sand
Testing for the best way to go.
