A group of stakeholders in the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Oyo State, Oyo Progressive Stakeholders, have called on Senator Abdul-Fatai Buhari, the self-acclaimed “best performing Senator in Oyo North Senatorial District”, to leave out President Bola Ahmed Tinubu in the mess of his political frustrations.

In a statement released in Ibadan on Monday, the group expressed concern that Senator Buhari and his supporters have turned President Tinubu into their launching pad whom they accuse of a plot to “impose” a gubernatorial candidate on the APC in the state for the 2027 elections.

The group noted that this accusation became recurrent immediately stakeholders of the party in the Oke Ogun area of Oyo State took a firm decision that Senator Buhari would not be allowed to have a fourth time in the Senate at the expense of the area that has 10 of the 13 local government councils in the Senatorial District, moreso when Senator Buhari never won election in the Ogbomosho Federal Constituency where he hails from in the three elections that took him to the Senate.

“We also wondered how they came about the self-acclaimed nomenclature of “best performing Senator in Oyo North Senatorial District”. How can someone who have spent 10 years in the Senate claim to be “best performing” against all predecessors who spent four (4) years each? Is someone who spent four years expected to outperform someone who is beginning his 11th year in the Senate?

Alhaji Taofeek Aribidesi, who signed the press statement on behalf of the Oyo Progressive Stakeholders noted that Senator Buhari and his supporters have vent their anger on President Tinubu even when it is apparent that the President was not the cause of their present frustrations.

He noted that “President Tinubu as the Leader of APC is a tested democrat that will allow free and fair primaries in Oyo State, and across the country”.

“Rather than daily attacking the President, Senator Buhari and his supporters should go and prepare for the primaries. Or is it that they are afraid of their impending failure because we wonder how someone who never won his local government in three consecutive elections could aspire to the governorship of a state like Oyo State. If the people of Oke Ogun have woken up, how is that the problem of President Tinubu?” he queried.

“We warn Senator Buhari to call his boys to order or else, we would be left with no option but to formally report him to the APC leadership for anti-party activities. We may hasten his porting to the coalition party where his co-travellers are already domiciled”, the statement concluded.

This failure, who couldn't point to any major achivement as Hon. Min. of Power is tagging a working and performing senator as a frustrated person.

The incoherent in the write up shows that the Hon. Min who is the worst amongst the member of the FEC in the present administration is jittery, reason for resorting to blackmails.

Senator Buhari is in the good book of PBAT. Just few days ago, the bill for the establishment of Federal University of Agriculture and Technology, Okeho, which he presented before the Senate was approved and accented to by the President.

Politics has evolved beyond this pettiness and cheap blackmail. I think the Olodo minister who has not contributed anything meaningful to the Renewed Hope Agenda of Pres. Bola Tinubu should wake up to the reality and stop misinforming the public.

It is utterly embarrassing and irresponsible for anyone to disseminate such a fallacious statement. This assertion is not only absurd but also utterly reprehensible.

Instead of perpetuating misinformation and promoting a misguided narrative to score a cheap political point, it would be honorable to provide a specific example of where Distinguished Sen. Buhari AbdulFatai, PhD, allegedly suggested or insinuated that President Bola Hamed Tinubu will impose a candidate.

I comprehend the motivation behind this misinformation disseminated from the camp of a minister who failed to deliver on the national assignment entrusted to him. Instead of concentrating on promoting your underperforming leader, you are expending energy to discredit and create unnecessary problems. President Bola Hamed Tinubu's political acumen far surpasses your imagination.

Sen. Buhari is an unwavering supporter of President Tinubu and a strong admirer of his political ideology.
