Unity Cup: Black Stars coach Addo unveils 23-man squadPublished on May 26, 2025By Mike Oyebola

Black Stars of Ghana head coach Otto Addo has named 23 players in his squad for the Unity Cup invitational tournament in London.

Otto included four home-based players in the squad.

The four players are:
Benjamin Asare of Hearts of Oak,
Razak Simpson of Nations FC,
Kamaradini Mamudu of Medeama SC, and Kwame Opoku of Asante Kotoko.

Super Eagles coach Eric Chelle has selected NPFL players to break into the main squad as the team gathers in London ahead of the Unity Cup.

The Franco-Malian called up
Sodiq Ismail, Sikiru Alimi, and Nduka from NPFL champions Remo Stars,
along with Ifeanyi Onyebuchi, Collin Ugwueze, and Saviour Isaac from Rangers.

He also included Papa Daniel (Niger Tornadoes),
Adamu Abubakar (Plateau United),
Waliu Ojetoye (Ikorodu City), and veteran skipper Ahmed Musa, now playing for Kano Pillars.

This is an interesting move by Coach Chelle! Using the Unity Cup to test new systems and integrate home-based players is a smart strategy, especially with an eye on building depth and identity ahead of future competitions. Giving NPFL stars a chance could unearth hidden gems, and blending them with fringe internationals like Dessers and Uche might create a nice balance of hunger and experience.

That said, Ahmed Musa’s inclusion will definitely spark debate. While his leadership and experience are invaluable, many fans might argue it’s time to fully phase him out for younger talents. Still, if he’s there to mentor and stabilize the squad during experimentation, it could pay off.

The Ghana clash will be a litmus test—can these new faces and systems hold up under pressure? Let’s hope Chelle’s project translates to cohesion on the pitch. September can’t come soon enough! 🇳🇬⚽

Why Brentford stadium when we have Eyimba stadium Aba which is even much more standard than the Brentford stadium.
