The video exposing the lady was posted online by @dammiedammie35 to X (Twitter). In the video, she was confronted by the owner of the store before she had a chance to escape.

Realizing that she had been caught in the act, the lady tried pleading with the store owner not to embarrass her, crying “Aunty, I don’t want embarrassment”.

She also tried to cover her face to prevent the store owner from exposing her online. Despite her pleading and struggling, the store owner showed her no mercy, insisting that the person recording show her face.

The video has gone viral online, sparking strong reactions from netizens. Many of them were repulsed by the lady’s actions and condemned her for still being defensive even after she was caught.

Females life and their focus dey irritating. Na bone straight she come steal to impress men, , who go, at best, sleep with her and give her money, and that's all. Funny thing is that we men are not impressed by those things women add to themselves. When you see females upload pics on social media, whether nude, semi nude, you see guys using terms such as , "cute", "wow", beautiful, gorgeous, wonderful, bla bla, bla whatever to flatter her at best. None, I mean none, will ever propose to her, cos she's not good enough for em. They will still look for the reserved one to marry.

Many of them get it the wrong way; it's either through stealing or having a fool foolishly buy it for them. grin

But to be fair, there are plenty of hardworking ladies out there too. Keep grinding, and may Jah continue to bless you!

Advisory to Young Women: Navigating the Illusions of Social Media

In a world where social media often blurs the lines between reality and fantasy, it's crucial for young women to recognize the potential dangers lurking behind the curated posts and filtered images.

1. The Mirage of Perfection
Social media platforms are flooded with images that portray an idealized version of life—perfect bodies, flawless skin, and seemingly perfect relationships. However, these portrayals are often heavily edited or staged, creating unrealistic standards that can lead to feelings of inadequacy and low self-esteem. Studies have shown that exposure to such content can contribute to body dissatisfaction and mental health issues among young women.

2. The Rise of Cyberbullying
The anonymity provided by social media can embolden individuals to engage in hurtful behaviors. Young women are particularly vulnerable to cyberbullying, which can have devastating effects on mental health. It's essential to be aware of the potential for online harassment and to take steps to protect oneself, such as adjusting privacy settings and reporting abusive behavior.

3. The Illusion of Connection
While social media can facilitate communication, it can also lead to feelings of isolation. Spending excessive time online can replace face-to-face interactions, leading to a lack of genuine connections and a sense of loneliness. It's important to balance online interactions with real-world relationships to maintain emotional well-being.

4. The Pressure of Constant Comparison
The constant stream of posts showcasing others' achievements, travels, and lifestyles can lead to a phenomenon known as "social comparison." This can result in feelings of jealousy and a diminished sense of self-worth. Remember, what is shared online is often a highlight reel, not the full story.

5. The Risk of Exploitation
Unfortunately, not all interactions on social media are benign. There have been instances where individuals have been manipulated into sharing personal information or engaging in inappropriate activities. It's crucial to be cautious about the information shared online and to be aware of potential risks

If something mysteriously gets missing in your house and you regularly carry olosho. You have you and yourself to blame.

And that, right there, is the core of this growing problem: an entitlement mindset so inflated it bends morality around perception.

We’ve built a culture—especially online—where being seen to have something is more important than how you got it. Enter the “pepper them” era, where clout is currency, and social media is the marketplace of self-worth. For many, especially younger users, it’s no longer enough to be doing well—you must be doing better than her. That faceless “her” on Instagram. That "them" on Twitter. So the pressure mounts. And where there’s pressure, there’s pretense.

This isn’t just about theft. It’s about a generation being silently conditioned to fake a lifestyle they can’t afford, defend it when exposed, and plead for privacy when the illusion collapses. There was no apology in that video. No shame in the act itself. Only fear of being seen for who she really was.

And the irony? These same social platforms are filled with “motivational” posts about leveling up, soft life, and luxury living—fueled by aesthetics but often detached from integrity. It’s a highlight reel, not a blueprint. But too many are taking it as gospel, and worse, competition.

This isn’t a call for cruelty or public humiliation—but let’s not ignore the deeper issue either. When embarrassment becomes a bigger fear than dishonesty, we’ve crossed into dangerous territory. We’ve raised a culture more afraid of being “exposed” than being wrong.

The video is a moment. But the mindset behind it? That’s the real crisis.

It’s time to shift the conversation from “don’t embarrass me” to “how did I end up here?”

Because until that changes, we’ll keep watching the same video—just with different faces.
