Abeg make una help me o. I bought Felicity 80A MPPT Charge controller sometimes last two weeks from a dealer but ever since then it's just yesterday I decided to tried it out. But lo and behold, controller did not turn on. I don't know If this is how Felicity charge controller behaves or is there anything wrong with this particular one? Or maybe it will turn on when I connect my panels to it. My setup is two 12v Cworth Lifepo4 batteries connected in parallel and a 12v sachet inverter. The battery is about 13v at the moment and it's currently supplying the inverter. |

Put on the panel breaker. It should come on. At times, it won't display anything till it recognize panel input. cutefy: |

Good morning all. I am back again. I have two Mercury tubular batteries which I installed around March last year. They are serving me very well and I have not experienced any day of darkness since I installed them, either morning or night, even during days of rainfall. My inverter is a 24v Mercury inverter. However, with all the information I have been reading here, I am planning on switching to a Lithium battery. I don't want to spend up to a million naira on the battery upgrade because my load demand is not much but I also want to be future-proof with whatever I buy. I generally consume at most 300w continuously, which is my fridge, TV, fans, and bulbs. I am thinking of buying a 3.6kwh lithium battery but my brother is advising that I go for a 5kwh battery which will be above a million naira. My first question is: will the number of hours the 3.6kwh lithium battery last be much different from the current tubular batteries I have? How many hours am I likely to get from the 3.6kwh battery with a load of 300w? Is the upgrade from two tubular batteries to a 3.6kwh battery worth it? Secondly, what will be your advice regarding the best brand to buy? From what I have seen, the options are buying from Mr Valto, or buying Cworth batteries or Haisic batteries. Which will be the most cost-effective and reliable option? Yes, I want a cheaper option but also an option that won't make me regret a few years later due to the performance of the battery Sorry for the long message

adibo:With a load of 300w, you'll get about 10.5 hours from a 3.6kwh battery after factoring in conversion losses. If your tubular batteries serve you right now, there's no need to upgrade. Use them till they start failing and switch to lithium then. Lithium has constantly been getting cheaper, so it could be much cheaper by then too. For example, a battery I bought for 860k a year ago can be found for under 600k now. I don't recommend tubular to people designing a setup (because they're pretty terrible compared to lithium) but that doesn't mean everyone should throw away their tubular batteries. |

adibo:Considering 50% DoD on tubular batteries, your 2 tubular batteries combined is just 2.6kwh So a 3.6kwh lithium battery is an upgrade from your current backup. But you said the tubular still serves you very well so I don't see a need for an upgrade, you can keep it till it doesn't serve anymore then upgrade to a 5kwh battery. Now that's a perfect upgrade. |

cutefy:new felicity charge controllers dont draw power from the batteries only from your pv. youll have to connect it to pv to power it on |

fuckboys:This is a terrible design. Someone should advise them to improve on this.I remember those days , I use my PWM charge controllers to monitor battery voltage without connecting to PV |

adibo:If it serves you, use it then upgrade after they have served their useful life. Unless you have another location to use the tubular battery, I see no reason you should be upgrading it |

adibo:I believe the suggestions of @heavenlybang and @fuckboys are very much valid. However, Mercury tubular batteries have been known to be very unreliable. You have been enjoying it so far because of you small load. You can get Haisic 7.1kw for 800k, or same 7.1kw with smart bms from @Mrreed for 840k.Your options are actually very wide with the funds available. There are also a couple of 5kw less than N1M naira in the market |

Please guys I have an issue. There is this blue carbon lithum battery installed with luxsun 4.2kwh 24v inveter. The users says the battery off at 24v it does not go below that. I have reduced the inveter 24v low dc cut off voltage to 21v but it still goes of at 24v. I checked online and found that blue carbon batterie has 20-24v bms cut off voltage. The battery has a dumb bms. Is there any solution on how to reduce it more or the blue carbon batteries is like that?? |

eghos12:That is 3v per cell. It is ok at 24v LVD |
| Re: Solar Energy, A Complement To FTA by omotoda(m): 8:48am On May 29, 2025 |
eghos12:Obviously the BMS has been programmed to cut off at 24v , that is 3v per cell .If the bms is not a smart bms where you can edit the settings, there is nothing you can do.Except you are willing to consult people like @Dam5rey and a couple of others here to help you open it and change to smart bms. |

Good morning all, I'm experiencing an issue with my Welion inverter. It had a short circuit this morning, causing both input and output currents to shut down. Currently, I'm getting an error code 08. How can I sort it out?
|
| Re: Solar Energy, A Complement To FTA by fuckboys: 11:35am On May 29, 2025 |
badaru1:disconnect battery and pv connections and leave for 10mins and reconnect back, if error code still there then take it to their service center. |

mctfopt:Baba,I understand but how much energy does a charge controller consume at night? My PowMR charge controller is practically dead at night, only the display shows which in most cases wont even consume up to the idle consumption of most inverters |
