How akwaibom now become eastern state?

Nigeria from the time of creation have just 3 and later 4 recognized regions, namely:

Eastern Nigeria
Northern Nigeria
Western Nigeria

later there was Midwestern Nigeria.

Eastern Nigeria comprised of Southeastern states of today and Southsouth states of today minus Edo and some part of Delta states.

Midwestern Nigeria comprised of Edo state and some part of Delta state.

Western Nigeria comprised of all the Southwestern states of today.

Northern Nigeria comprises of all the Northern states of today.

Foreign news and outside Nigeria, they don't recognize Southsouth because there is nothing like Southsouth in geographical coordinates, you have:

North, Northeast, Northwest
South, Southeast, Southwest.

And if you are to divide Nigeria by the correct geographical coordinates, Lagos and some Northern states will merge in Southwest, some Yoruba States, Edo, Southeast and Southsouth states will merge into Southeast.

It was all a political game to reduce Igbo influence in Nigeria after the end of the civil war, so the Military Government unbundled Eastern Nigeria into Southeast and Southsouth and in the process, some Igbo speaking communities in Southeast were moved to today Southsouth to make sure Southeast is reduced in size and to also make sure they had no access to sea. Some Igbo speaking communities in Middlebelt were also removed from Southeast and put in Northcentral, especially Benue and Kogi.

Igbos really paid the price for losing the civil war, its fine
